Florida book bans - the first step before burning

Politicians tricking Americans is part of the problem. It's one reason why I believe 40% of Americans voters (out of the 60% who actually vote) are disaffected about the two major parties.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ron ran on that agenda, but that's a problem for the Republicans for two reasons: 1) it's a switch from the ideology of "let the States" decide and 2) he'd have to temper it with exceptions as noted by states which refused a flat ban.

OTOH, I expect the DNC candidate to run on a gun ban agenda..again tempered to make it more palatable for most voters.
Disagree about the DNC candidate's agenda. There are plenty of Liberals who own guns. Of course, 80% of the nation wants sensible gun laws, but I don't see that as the pressing issue with DeathSantis violating the rights of so many demographics.

I see civil and voting rights, as well as abortion as the main issues. This is based upon mini MAGA's recent legislation that was rammed through as well as his rhetoric. We'll see what the economy looks like in '24, but Republicans were unsuccessful at lying about the economy in '22.

If we have yet another mass shooting by some individual who should have been 'red flagged' late in the summer of '24, we will no doubt see gun laws in the platform.

Feds only contribute 8% of school money. What is the solution?
Each state is different. Before Spitzer got caught with his pants down, he was about to transfer some of the education burden to state income tax. That way renters contribute to their own kids' education.

Every time there is a budget vote, renters overwhelmingly approve it, while homeowners challenge it. Spreading the burden would not only help with funding, but put more money into districts that don't have multi million dollar properties.

Nevertheless, that's the DNC wedge issue.

Yes, I support "common sense gun laws". Now define what they are. To Democrats, that means banning ARs and making me a criminal if I let my 12 year old grandson shoot my .22. To me it means keeping guns out of the hands of nutjobs and criminals while leaving me alone.

Red Flag laws are laws. If a person has been Red Flagged and nothing was done, then it was an enforcement issue. Piling laws up on laws means nothing without enforcement. Meanwhile, the Liberal cry is "Defund the Police". LOL

There are nurses in Florida who are ordered by their hospital to ask people to wear masks. Then DiSantis tells them it is a felony to ask. So they are left with a choice, they can either lose their job or their freedom.

It's time to end the insanity of the Church of Covid.

Isn't it amazing how all those hospitals are wrong, and only DeSantis with his complete lack of scientific background is right.

You would think the hospitals should have the freedom to do their thing, even if it is wrong, but no, DeSantis demands absolute authority.

Yes, Florida could shutdown all the hospitals in Florida. I see no flaw in that plan whatsoever:palm:

This isn't science, dumbass. It's tyranny. Paradox V.

God bless America and our right to choose. :)

I would assume it is very rare. The anti-vaxxers do not seem to be the best and the brightest. You might be able to find an example here or there, but I am willing to bet there are far more examples of terrible employees that the organization is happy to be rid of.

What I am noticing about this economy, if you have a skill, you have jobs. The tech workers that got laid off, are getting jobs in a week that can pay up to twice as much. MacDonalds workers are getting paid $50 an hour, and Dairy Queen workers are getting paid $32 an hour. Those are extreme cases, but not unheard of. It works on both ends of the spectrum, you just have to be willing to work, and have some sort of skill.

Then there are the people who got by on being white men, but were unwilling to work, and had no skill. They are having it tough. They are complaining that it is no fair they can't smoke in their office, or whatever. And honestly, everyone is better off with them gone.

You would assume wrong. Businesses were DESTROYED by these stupid mandates. The economic depression started by DEMOCRATS shutting down businesses as 'nonessential' is still with us. Now the government is trying to print their way out of their problem.

Hopefully the next time you need surgery or a physical examination, you'll demand that the health care provider(s) take off any PPE they've got on, including gloves and masks. Put your money where your dumbass mouth is! lol

Let 'em take off their mask during a physical examination. I have no problem with it.
Surgical masks are worn for only a couple of hours. After that, I have no problem with them taking it off since the surgery is completed when they do. If the surgery takes more than a couple of hours (pretty damn rare), I have no problem with them changing their mask.

N95 masks are NOT surgical masks. They are DUST MASKS.

I understand why you don't understand the nature of a pandemic, a global plague, Sybil. It's beyond you. You think that by ignoring it, it will go away. That's not understanding reality, son.

Whenever you have said that DeathSentence will be the front-runner in '24, I told you that he plays well in trump's home state of Florida, but not on the national stage.

I have a strong feeling that he suffers similar delusions to trump's. He needs help. From the moment he raided that girls house because she refused to hide Covid stats, to Disney, to racist educational guidelines...it seems he's ready for a padded cell.

He's already playing well on the national stage, dumbass.

So you're not worried that DeSantis will become both the Republican nominee and the President in November 2024? You think most Americans will vote for Harris or whoever is the DNC nominee? The same argument was used in 2016, another free-for-all election.

Disagreed with your assessment of Ron. He's a populist and autocrat, but much saner than Trump. Besides, he lets his wife dress him. Trump only needed help on stairs.
You are talking about "the wind blew him over" Biden.

Many employers realize teachers are overworked, underpaid, and have important skills. Our economy has extreme shortages of workers, especially skilled workers. There is about to be a feeding frenzy on teachers, so this is the time to try to keep them.

Instead, Florida is trying to persecute them.

'Important skills' doesn't include teaching sexual perversions. That is what the Florida law is about, dumbass.

You can only treat people like shit for so long before they will just find new jobs. It is called capitalism, and it is why Florida is now has extreme teacher shortages.

Let 'em leave. Hiring veterans to replace them would improve the schools.

Yep. Well, more teachers for us, less for them. In just a few short years, we'll see the results of FL's War on Education. Their h.s. graduates will have difficulty getting hired for any but unskilled jobs, and those who want further education will have trouble getting into the better colleges and universities.

But on a more positive note, Disney won't have to import foreign workers to staff their theme parks. lol

There is no war on education.
