Fluke for Congress

Let's see the evidence to the contrary.

Here's the scenario. Work with me here.

I know who you are but you don't know who I am. I run into you in a grocery store or somewhere and we start chatting while in the check out line. Then after we've gone our separate ways someone says to you "that was christiefan from JPP."

It's so much fun for me to imagine your jaw dropping while you rework your mental inventory.

Maybe I should sell my scenario to a screenwriter, or to Ashton Kutcher for a new episode of Punk'd. <grin>

This is a classic case of letting the small things overcome logic. Some small portion may have that kind of cost if there were no safety nets available, but there are. The reality is there are myriad options available to the students, especially to those who have no earnings while in school. There are local clinics where the doctor's appointments would be scaled to income (and since they had none would be very cheap) as well as Planned Parenthood and other non-profits that would be willing to help.

The reality was there were options for these students other than $1000 per year, even if they were so unlikely and unlucky as to have to use that expensive contraceptive without any ability to use a generic or cheaper form.

To use this as a reason to put into place a system that the CBO now states will increase our debt by $1 Trillion over the next ten years is not logical when there were so many cheaper and wiser solutions available to us, none of which would reduce the 1st Amendment rights of the owners of the university even one iota.

You are trying to use logic and reason to convince people who can only act emotionally.

You jumped the shark with your first premise, and exceeded the bounds of possibility with the second.

Oh, do you need help with the definition of "scenario"?

You may now disabuse yourself of the fiction that I'm a clone of Vera Stanhope.
