Can someone who understands these things explain in simple language how the Iranians captured one of your drones? Surely the instructions are 'encrypted' (is that the right word). Does it mean that they broke the encryption then hacked into the instructions and then managed to steer it safely to earth?
Seems awfully clever to me.

Or did they just have a bloody great butterfly net?

Now, where's the key that winds up my computer? Sure I put it in this drawer.... mmmm
 
Well I tell you. rednecks have a lot of pull with the military.Most of the military is made of rednecks.Thing is rednecks are kinda stupid.

We have money for this, but not our elderly to be taken care of, or our taxes cut.

As far as I'm aware they shot it down, whether it is still intact is highly debatable. The US shot down an Iranian drone in 2009 so no doubt they feel vindicated.

It's possible that they managed to determine the radio frequencies used to control the drone and jam the signal, although I believe that they use spread spectrum techniques to prevent such jamming. If they had done that, it's likely that the drone would have just glided back to the ground rather than dropping out of the sky. But I can't believe they would have been able to control it, they are just not that sophisticated.

To be fair, they are not exactly the same thing. Spread spectrum is typically used for applications like mobile telephony to maximise use of the bandwidth available. Frequency hopping is used primarily to prevent jamming by switching frequencies in a semi random manner many times per second. You might be interested to know that Hedy Lamarr was the co-inventor of the frequency hopping concept back in the '40s
