For WM: Heroic 13 yr Old Boy and Parents Bravely Resist Court Ordered Chemotherapy

Anyway.

While I personally understand the whole choice thing. If this were any of my kids, they'd be getting the Chemo. Period.

I support my kids' right to make their own choices to a point. But if they are throwing life away in favor of some odd stance against Chemotherapy, well, they'll just have to be pissed at me all of their long, long lives.

At 13 they'd be old enough to feel "violated" by my forcing the choice on them, and to remember it and harbor "anger" over it. And if they wanted to, I'd rather they "hate" me and my refusal to let them die than "support" their choice of suicide by curable cancer.

No, kidding! You'd think it would be easy to say something like, "I think the courts did the right thing in this case." and it would go a long way towards clearing up all the confusion. I would if I were you, SF.

Apologies to all. I should indeed learn to state my position in a clear and concise manner. I shall begin immediately....

Topspin is a moron.

I would agree. The parents should make the final call if the opinion of the child is not the same as theirs.

Well, i'd go even further and make all children undergo chemotherapy treatment at least once a year, whether they like it or not, regardless of need.

True, preventative chemotherapy is the best option, but in reality we just can't afford it and it would become a subsidy for the poison-producers...

No, you are a moron because you are incapable of reading my position and comprehending what it is. Instead you lash out with your idiocy.

You people and your "safety" culture disgust me.

Money, money, money. That's all you people care about, isn't it?

Never mind that, with a little bit of time and effort, any simpleton can search the internets for the recipe for genuine chemotherapy juice, made from a variety of easily obtainable household items. You'd rather focus on the odd case of death or blindness wouldn't you?

Well, tragic as it may be, a child's death is a small price to pay when we're talking about saving a child's life.

Face it. You're just a lobbyist for the poison producers. In fact, you support the subsidies against Cuban poison, admit it! Before we begin universal preventative chemotherapy we have to be able to pay for it first. Otherwise it will just be another failed attempt in the battle for the pro-poison cause... You hurt your own case if you make the companies dependent on the government for their profit.

Just because the consumer can purchase a 2 litre bottle of 'Charver's Chemotherapy Cordial', for the rather reasonable price of $79.99, from www.charverchemicals.co.uk does not mean that i have any links to it whatsoever.

Honestly, you'll be telling us that children shouldn't be sniffing gasoline and drinking de-icer next.

Absolutely.
Reading your reply, reminded me of an episode of MASH.
Hawkeye had fouind out that a wounded soldier was only 15 or 16 years old.
He turned him in and as the boy was being sent home; he looked at Hawkeye and said "I hate you".
Hawkeye responded with "I hope it's a long and healthy hate", meaning that he hoped the boy lived a long time.

It's an easy topic, the parents and the child should have complete say on his medical procedures, I can't believe this filthy facist country we have become that this is debatable.

Brave parents and boy...how stupid, for one who has been there and done that, I would have chemo, AGAIN, if I thought it could give me a longer life!

I have used both and find them both very effective. I could not function without some of my herbs. I could not function without some of the minerals I take for my autoimmune disease. I love acupuncture for the same dis-ease. Massage is heaven and medically proven to help. Meditation, well, I have chased cancer from my body so far and I am now on the way to being a size 6! Due to Thinking Thin and a meditation I am doing. Three days at Curves and three days at Planet Fitness are also helping, but the meditation is helping make better food choices. I can't get enough of peanut butter and celery right now!

Parents can make an informed decision based on past experience and knowledge that the child may lack. There are cases of extremely well informed teenagers, and this may be one of those cases, but for the most part at 13 I would have wanted my parents to make the decision. It was confusing enough at 51 to have to make decisions that I had entirely no knowledge about the subject. You can read, google, etc., but I had faith in my oncologist and asked the question, "if I were your mother, what would you advice me to do, I am afraid and I don't know what is the best course for me at this time and I just want this "stuff" out of my body, NOW"

No, they now have their personal hell to face and when the boy passes, they will wonder "what if"...but it could go either way.

But to STY, it would be a glorious death and they would become a cult status, like Waco.

It actually sounds like a very nice place to retire, by the way, he he.

Are the people saying the Child and parents should have the last say the same people that say Abortion is ok cause look at the family the child might grow up in, or the Mother isn't stable, LOL some people just want it there way no matter what.

Froggie I applaud you and hope you never have to battle that battle again!
