Foreign movies are a National Security threat!

It's mostly not foreign countries enticing US film makers but other states beyond California. California is making it easy to leave and the film industry is doing exactly that. Their massive investment in studios in California is the only reason they haven't entirely left already.

Between the cost of living, cost of just doing business in California, onerous environmental laws, and a state government that hates business in general, the film industry, like every other business, is packing up and leaving the state for more friendly ones.

Movies made by studios in America have for years now been generally unwatchable....the quality of the art sucks....which state they are made in is irrelevant.

He's protecting Hollywood.

He's protecting Hollywood.
Hollywood has already failed, he is doubling down on failure.

The only way to get Hollywood back would be to force them to compete with better product, plus as a Free Mind/Free Speech absolutist a 100% tax on foreign cinema is a no way for me.

When production started to flee America, for cheaper I think, the first place they went was Vancouver Canada....it might be that Trump is not thinking beyond that.

Slightly tangential I was hearing the other day that there is a gang in Hollywood, how big it is I dont know, that is trying to get Hollywood out of making their political product and back to making quality art.

Movies have generally sucked the big one for many years. It's no different with foreign films lately. At one time foreign films were less woke than American films but that was a while ago, now all movies suck with few exceptions. All I can say about the tariff is American movie studios will be happy. Will the writing improve? Maybe when the current crop of writers die or retire, maybe then movies will improve, maybe.

Hollywood collapse started 2009/2010.....British collapse did not start till about 2015...Europe slightly before that.

I am currently working my way through the British library, having mostly seen the American library that I am interested in....I hope Trump does not fuck this up for me.

I have said this before but I will say it again.....for me anything Hollywood post 2009 is iffy......anything post 2016 is almost certainly not.....I need to have some reason to think it does not suck to watch.

We used to adore going to the theater, often doing diner and a movie, we tried to get back into it last summer going to 2....we decided that we can let this go with todays prices and poor quality....both with the movies and the restaurants.
