While Truman could certainly have been more diplomatic than he was (particularly between 1945 and 1947), and did an overall bad job in trying to establish relations with the USSR, I think the Cold War was unavoidable. The fact that the Soviets saw American threats in everything, including the friggin' Marshall Plan, shows how deranged the Kremlin was.
Jews and Masons are a bigger threat.
