as i said in another thread, i'm torn. fiscally, i don't see it, scientifically etc...i see it.

What is the scientific benefit of a manned mission to Mars? We could send dozens of unmanned spacecraft for the same cost. Although the idea of sending men to Mars is cool, it is not practical.

Not practical CURRENTLY. The experience we would gain from moon colonizing would make it much more practical.
