Fossil energy harming the enviroment

At the time that edison's order for propulsion batteries was canceled in Detroit, electrics outnumbered gas almost 2-1.

By the way, the original edison batteries still work, if intact. Edition batteries never wear out, the liquid electrolite wears out instead.
Edison batteries are still manufactured, but not in this country. One could readily build (or have built) an electric vehicle which would never need replacement batteries.

ok dune....but that still doesn't disprove the first part of my post. you need to show that electric cars were cheaper than fossil (oil) based cars in that era in order to prove me wrong. back then oil was virtually everywhere. no one had any idea oil had a limit. i live in a town that to this day oil seeps out onto the ground and roads. literally. that is why car manufacturers went with the combustible engine. it was cheaper and they thought limitless.

Yet there were coices which could have been made. For example, deisel engines were designed to run on vegatble oil. The design needed to be changed to work with petroleum oil.

100 years ago, 1/3 of all motor vehicles were electric. Someone in Detroit decided to build gas cars instead of electric.

Meanwhile, now that we know there are alternatives, we should be working towards eliminating burning fossil fuels as quickly as possible, rather than delaying the inevitable.

Oil companies need to take the lead in developing alternative fuels, if they wish to stay in the energy business. They certainly have the resources as well as the infrastructure to do so. If they stay with their present agenda, they will simply be passed by.

Oil (and coal) will alsways be needed for manufacturing, especialy with the population exploding. China is already experimenting with portable manufactured housing, of which plastic (oil) plays a large roll.

They're also dedicated to nuclear power.

They're also dedicated to nuclear power.

They also built the world's largest hydro-electric plant, they are heavily invested in solar and wind research, and they build new coal burning plants at an alarming rate. My point is just that they are ahead of the curve compared to US when it comes to dealing with excess population growth.

As gas prices continue to rise, electric will catch on more & more.

Dude is concerned about his oil friends losing market share....

actually if you read data istead of guessing alt fuel vehicles sales are down with gas prices up.

why
because the math doesn't work, economy cars are getting 40mpg at 20k

That could be a valid concern but I don't think so. Every product sold barring food contains oil. As we gradually (at best) transition away from oil, manufacturing will continue to be a market for oil.

In fact, (this is the really imortant part) future generations will decry our actions of foolishly burning oil for heat or motive power. Oil burned is gone forever, Oil used to manufacture plastic can be recycled with a recovery rate of over 90% (of the oil).

Coming generations will need the ease and flexibility of oil based chemistry for manufacturing to supply the needs of a much larger population.
Oil prices will not drop precipitously due to lack of demand caused by replacement energy sources.

When factored against real inflation (not the bogus government version, so useful for keeping the population dumb, happy and controlled) gasoline is cheap at this time. In Europe, where a liter of gas cost the same as a gallon here, electric cars are very common and popular.

It just takes time. New technology.

I think their whole first advertising campaign was pretty ineffective - they were trying to appeal to people's "worldview". The latest ads I've seen have been much more geared to individual concerns.

Everything from acid rain to mercury build up in otherwise healthy to eat fish can be laid at the feet of fossil fuel use, to say nothing of atmospheric carbon imbalance, trade deficit and national security concerns.

Mowing down mountains and filling rivers/valleys in pursuit of coal is awesome too right Yurtard? Fracking looks like some real safe shit too,
and blowout preventers are too expensive.

What a never ending hack you are.

You are correct. We should shut off all our power today and go back to the stone age. good point.
