No, no - any network that campaigns for the GOP and propogandizes right-wing positions is biased.
That's not really correct. Bias is a prejudice or inclination towards a particular point of view. We all have bias's and mainstream news medias have theirs, though the bias's they have aren't particularly "liberal" ones as Fox would phrase it. Fox is a propaganda outlet, mainstream media and cable news may have it's bias's but they are not propaganda (maybe excepting MSNBC).
What makes a propaganda media outlet, like Fox, different from the mainstream news media is that they use psychological manipulation of information to achieve a desired result.
Now Fox is hardly unique there. Both political parties and the Government have used and manipulated the main stream media, sometimes cooperatively, to communicate propaganda but the mainstream news media, in general, does not normally try to achieve a specific reslut, which is really Fox News biggest lie and the one their devotees will most passionatly defend.
Where Fox has been unique is that they have made it a very profitable business. They sell their right wing brand of propaganda to monied interest groups interested in swaying the public to support their political/socio-economic agenda. There's a certain amount of cynicism with Fox cause, in grand American tradition, they are only going where the money is. If the money was coming from the political left to buy their services than Fox would certainly be singing the praises of Barry Obama and Chairman Mao and would be demonizing the Captains of Industry but that's not where the money is coming from, is it?
To emphasize my point, if anyone has seen a bit of mellowing of Fox News lately it's probably because the monied interest are distancing them selves from the right wing loonies and their race baiting politics cause they've probably understand a little more clearly now that their economic hegemony is dependent upon not alienating these growing demographics, particularly in urban areas. Fox has all ready parted ways with a couple of loonies, I would'nt be surprized to see Sean Hannity start singing a more moderate tune or see him also part ways with Fox. Though if that happens I'll have to get the information second had cause I have no intentions of watching Fox News.
