Fox News tells court reasonable viewers know Tucker Carlson is full of shit.

Do the people watching Tucker know that?

Judging by this board, NO. They think he dispenses gospel. When he admits he is a professional liar, they ignore it. They will be citing him in the near future and we are supposed to think his claims are accurate and honest. He tells us the opposite. It is like Alex Jones admitting in court that he is playing a character on his shows. Yet rightys trot out Infowars as proof. You cannot offer much worse sites unless it is 4chan.

Susan McDougal's suit against Tucker Carlson was thrown out in part because of this.

Fox persuasively argues, see Def Br. at 13-15, that given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, any reasonable viewer “arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism” about the statements he makes.

One does have to wonder if Fox News has any reasonable viewers based on how they all seem to believe everything Tucker says.

The quote from the court is found on page 12

I haven't been able to find the referenced Defense Brief to see how Fox framed the quote. If anyone finds it, post a link here.

NO, THEY SAID OPINIONS ARE OPINIONS, DUMBASS.

CARLSON HAS THE HIGHEST RATED SHOW IN CABLE NEWS HISTORY...

It's so deeply and disappointingly cynical to me.

No wonder the GOP hasn't legitimately won the popular vote for President since 1988.

No. Fox argued that a reasonable viewer would be skeptical of Tucker Carlson's statements. That is what the court said. That is quite different from arguing that it was merely an opinion.

Lots of people have opinions that don't require skepticism.

Bullshit.

I’ll just leave it at that.

Sorry, but all opinions require skepticism lol.

This has to be one of the most ‘non-informative’ rulings to come down the pike. Pundits dispense opinions: they are not news readers. You can’t
‘Lie’ with an opinion. Having your facts wrong isn’t lying—unless there’s an intent to deceive. And don’t get me started on some of the damned lies told about Trump in the media.

For example, someone please PROVE that the latest anonymous ‘story’ about Trump and the military wasn’t a lie.

I’ll wait right here.
