The image was actually a mashup of photos from different days, taken by different photographers — it was done by splicing a Getty Images photo of an armed man, who had been at the protest zone June 10, with other images from May 30 of smashed windows in downtown Seattle. Another altered image combined the gunman photo with yet another image, making it appear as though he was standing in front of a sign declaring “You are now entering Free Cap Hill.” '

The putting a gunman at the entrance of CHAZ is however wrong if there is no note that the image is a montage, that looks like a photo.

I agree. Of the three, the top photo is obviously a montage. The lower one is simply captioned "crazy town." That isn't doctored, it's commentary. The middle has a caption added on the sign.

What we really need here is the context in which FOX displayed these. For example, while I rarely watch news on television, I happened to see some of Tucker Carlson's show yesterday because my son was watching it. There was a segment on the CHAZ thing in Seattle that was obviously dripping in sarcasm and humor, not taking itself too seriously. My thought here is if these pictures were used in something similar then the idea that they are "doctored" becomes an absurdity rather than serious commentary. Thus, we need the context in which they were used.

I am not sure we agree....I said that the only problem with what Fox did was putting a gunman at the entrance of CHAZ without noting that it was a montage not a photo, that it was not real.

That said I have a lot of problem with how the alleged experts jammed Fox, almost certainly for political reasons.
