Gabby Douglas' Hair... Really people?

What is "christian" about her hair?

Let's see if any so-called christian can explain how her hair is christian.

It's a stupid argument.

Don't think so.....I, for one, saw and heard nothing about her hair or her looks before she performed and commented on her religious beliefs....so lets SEE this timeline.

But one event does not automatically prove the other.

How about comments before the Olympics even began?

"After getting my first glance of Gabby Douglas during the USA Gymnastics Olympic trials, one of my first comments was about her hair. I was critical of the styling, and given the venue and the amount of press sure to be taking her photo, I felt my criticisms warranted."

This is the same kind of nonsense that pops up whenever someone claims racism after any critique of black person.

To be sure, there is racism aplenty in our world. But all too often it is claimed whether it exists or not.

This holds true for some Christians as well. Whenever they are critisized they claim it is because they are Christian, not for the actual reasons given in the criticism. Its just as wrong.

Thats was explained in post 15.....didn't you understand it or didn't you read it ?

I can't speak for BAC, but from my point of view this is simply invented nonsense. Whatever demeaning comments were made about her hair were ridiculous. The only thing more ridiculous is to claim that these comments were made in order to attack her for her faith.

So one pompous black racist shows disdain for Gabby hair...and others jump on the band wagon later.....thank god it wasn't a white person talking this stupidly...

Its the first I heard about the issue....it was rude, disrespectful and its this moron that needs for be called out for her contemptible remarks...

and like I said above, one issue does not prove the other....

Funny that you should mention proof. There is actually no evidence, let alone proof, that any of this was aimed at Gabby Douglas because of her religious beliefs. But you don't seem to mind that lack of proof.

Actually, I'm agreeing with you.....the issue of her hair does not prove its was instigated by her religious remarks.....regardless of the timeline .... and the timeline does
give your conclusion more credence....

One event does not automatically prove the other.

It is not an either/or event....

I never said the comments were made in order to attack her for her faith. I said her faith made it easy to attack her for superficial things, like her hair.

No, of course not.

"I personally think the problem with Gabby's hair is, it's "Christian" hair. It's on top of a head that gives GOD all the credit and glory for her accomplishments. I think THAT is what they have a problem with.... Her God-loving Christian hair!"

"You can have whatever racist sexist perception you like, this wasn't about her being black or female, it was about her being Christian."

The only talk Ive heard about her hair is from people upset that there is talk about her hair.

Look at the commentaries about the women athletes and compare them to the men. There are constant comments about the appearances of the women that simply do not happen with the male athletes. That she is black and her hair does not fit the "ideal" makes it even easier to critisize.

It is not about her faith, it is about women being forced to have a certain level of beauty regardless of their accomplishments.

While normally I would agree, the women around me won't shut up about the bodies of Lochte and Phelps... they have turned into brain dead drooling women who only care about the guys looks and body. for shame

hahhahaha. Hilarious. Are you doing the time-honored male thing? "oh they're gay, you didn't know that?"

Look to the source, your answers you shall find there.

Seriously though, what have people said about her hair?

That photo of her doing the splits about 100 feet above the balance beam says it all.... BAD... ASS ...

Nope... doing the time honored things of:

1) Pointing out that women like to treat men as objects as well

2) I am jealous of the 6 packs. Damn alcohol always keeps getting in the way. :)

Side note: Lochte is not gay... he is the douche bag of all douche bags

Yeah that is true about Lochte but I like Phelps better anyway. I like him for his mind. He has some interesting and really what you could call revelatory thoughts on Proust.

who has talked about her hair? I am not being facetious, just haven't heard it. Quite frankly, I would expect most criticism on hair to come from the female side to begin with. It's hard for me to imagine guys sitting around talking about how some girls hair is just a complete mess and not stylish or whatever

It has nothing to do with her hair, it's her Christian beliefs they are attacking and using the littlest thing to attack her in a roundabout way.

OMG listen to yourself!

They were attacking her Christianity when they ridiculed her hair?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight...what's next?

Are you going to try and pretend that when commentators point out mistakes in her routine...what they were REALLY doing is attacking her Christianity?

You know, recently I had commented on what I thought to be the dumbest comment that would be made on these boards this year...I was wrong.

Your comment above is the NEW Gold Standard for Stupidity on these boards.

CONGRATS!

They were attacking her Christianity when they ridiculed her hair?

No, they ridiculed her hair because it's not PC to ridicule her Christianity. It's the new standard.

You don't like her faith or politics? Find something else to attack her for, and pretend THAT is the reason.
