GDP rose 2.9% in 4th quarter

Look at labor participation not unemployment

Why? Do you even know what the labor participation rate is. What has that rate been doing since the 1960s for the white male demographic? Why is it suddenly important now and why?

The answers is…. It’s been dropping since 1960s for that demographic. What’s causing it to be slightly lower over time is a large number of retirees due to the baby boom and fewer teens working. So it’s meaningless. U3 is the accepted benchmark for unemployment.

You use unemployment because it does not include those not looking which labor participation does

Labor participation rate includes people NOT employed and NOT looking for work. I don’t use anything. The BLS she’s U3 and always has.

Hello Jarod,

Trump lies….. shocker!

A little lie here or there is one thing. Most are guilty of that.

Trump goes way beyond that. The difference is lost on the cult.

They're like: "Well, Biden lies too, so that makes all of Trump's lying acceptable."

They don't use that argument when defending Trump's insults.

Does President Biden call people names? No.

The country uses the exact same system for Biden that it used for other presidents. It allows you to make weekly, monthly, and yearly comparisons quickly. This is not new. The last time I looked at labor dept stats, they had 6 ways to measure employment., However, the country uses this one and it works fine.

Each administration have ways to manipulate it

Biden lied and claimed it is increasing. You should stop believing the Biden lies

You are so ignorant you dont know the difference between participation and productivity. However the labor participation rate is increasing over the low point that Trump hit.

Fourth-quarter gross domestic product, the sum of all goods and services produced for the October-to-December period, rose at a 2.9% annualized pace, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected a reading of 2.8%.

The growth rate was slightly slower than the 3.2% pace in the third quarter.

Stock market futures rose following the report while Treasury yields were mostly higher as well.

Consumer spending, which accounts for about 68% of GDP, increased 2.1% for the period, down slightly from 2.3% in the previous period but still positive.

Inflation readings moved considerably lower. The personal consumption expenditures price index increased 3.2%, in line with expectations but down sharply from 4.8% in the third quarter. Excluding food and energy, the chain-weighted index rose 3.9%, down from 4.7%.

And inflation in the 4th quarter of 2022 was 8.3% meaning that the real growth of the GDP was a -5.4%. With inflation running at 3 to 5 times what it was prior to Joke taking office, I'd say we're being ass fucked by that senile retard in the White House.

GDP growth does not work that way. GDP growth already takes into account inflation.

There is a desperation in Gardner's posts. Does he want to try to backup his Obama claims?

Obama presided over a weak and slow growth economy for eight years. It was hardly anything to praise. Mediocrity rarely deserves it. Biden's economy has been shit. He started with the economy coming out of a self-inflicted drubbing because of government shutdowns.

Of the supposed "12 million jobs" he claims credit for, virtually all are simply ones that have been refilled since those shutdowns. There was a loss of about 22 million jobs during that. About 11 million had returned when Biden took office. Do the math.

There haven't been many, if any at all, added beyond those that were there prior to the shutdowns. If you look at the Spanish flu of 1918, unemployment dropped from about 12% to 2.5% when the epidemic ended. Worse for Biden, unlike then, his meddling in the market and mass spending has driven inflation through the roof. Back with the Spanish influenza, the economy roared back with 1.7% inflation, not the close to double digits Biden caused through idiotic policy.

By every measure, Biden's continued massive spending, massive new regulatory burdens, and idiotic greentard mandates on the economy have been a huge drag to both recovery and keeping inflation down. Sure, later this week in his self-flagellating State of the Union address he's going to claim things were never better even as nearly three-quarters of the population say the economy is for shit. No amount of lying spin on Biden's part is going to change the fact that most people want him out of office and think he's doing a shitty job of running the country.
