George W. Bush's new book "Decision Points"

You always apologize for him.

The facts are that he sat there frozen, like a deer in the headlights, when all he knew was that the country he was leading was under attack.

Them's the facts.
If I thought for one second he didn't do something he should have been doing, I'd be all over his ass in a heartbeat....

Why are you all over his ass?...because he didn't show any panic?
because he didn't show any obvious outward distress or anger....
because he kept himself under control?
because he didn't show fear?
What did you want from him in those few minutes?

Good point. It's not like there is any need for leadership when the country is UNDER ATTACK.

Come to think of it, he should have stayed in that classroom for years....
Be specific, you loud mouth, empty headed moron....what should he have done in those 7 minutes...?

What would you have done...you can tell us, can't you?
You're not just running off at the mouth are you?
What profound action would you have taken?

You've had 10 fuckin' years to think about it and can't come with something? Anything?

We're talking about the President of the United States.

All he knew is that the United States was under attack.

I expect a self-proclaimed leader to politely excuse himself during those circumstances, and find out who is attacking us, how they are attacking us, and what the response is and should be. He isn't called "Commander in Chief" for no reason whatsoever.

How does someone in that position just sit there? It was an unreal lack of leadership. His later explanation that he wanted to "project an air of calm" to the kids was pathetic. You can project an air of calm while you politely excuse yourself.

must hate bush, must hate bush

he waits the 7 minutes while his staff is doing JUST THAT...when he is ready to speak to the nation, he does so...

i mean really, you're whining about 7 fucking minutes, you're a moronic hack

Anyone who isn't a Bush loving apologist hack recognizes that as one of Bush's worst moments. He FROZE, while the country was under attack.

It's not exactly a big shock that you were one of the first on the thread rushing to his defense, and praising his "calm."

LOL

Really.....So he would what....go to the library to look it up?
How would he find that out in those seven minutes?
If anyone in his presence knew, do you think they were keeping it a secret....?

Do you realize how fuckin' stupid you look with such a moronic statement...
Bush should have excused himself, run into the next room and just find out who was attacking us.....

Well, god damn, thats what he should have done alright....
in seven minutes he could have found out who it was and kill them all before lunch time.

You're about as fuckin' dumb as they come, boy....

He knew about planes hitting the WTC BEFORE he ever entered that school....and those seven minutes you think are special....
There was nothing he could do about events in New York but wait for more information and ....verified and verifiable information at that, FACTS..
He was Commander In Chief....not Merlin the Magician...or some wizard from the fantasy world you inhabit.
As CinC did you want him to put troops on alert, call out Guard, send the Nuc.Subs to sea, what?
What was he to do as CinC?

Your apologism is hilarious. You really take it to the next level.

He was President of the United States - Commander in Chief. He found out that America was under attack, and knew little else. He sat there.

Card tells W that the second plane hit and we are under attack at 1:00 into this video.

You tell me this is what you want your President to do when he hears about people flying jumbo jets into our sky scrapers.

Tell me that with a straight face.

Tell me you're proud of his reaction.

Say it.

actually...after watching the video...no, that was not his proudest moment and does seem like a deer in the headlights moment

though what would you have him do? the only thing he could have done was to excuse himself and then wait for more information to come in, which is what he did...

Don't apologize for him Yurt. He should have immediately, IMMEDIATELY politely bid ado to the class and been the fuck on the horn with his advisors, boots on the ground and military commanders. During that 7 minutes, he didn't know if there were more planes or not (which there were, 2 more) and he didn't fucking move. This was his test moment, and he failed, and failed badly.

This is where we want a reactive leader and we got W.

Don't apologize for him. He was a lost little kid who never had the wherewithal to step up in a situation like that. His reaction could not be worse. It was abominable.

And that was the moment that the rest of the world knew the USA had a problem - not caused by terrorists, but caused by the rank stupidity of the people who elected the biggest buffoon in political history.

BUT..... What, in the name of all that is holy, would Sarah Plain do? She doesn't even know what a 'Noo York' is!!!! My golly those tea party lunatics would have a lot to answer for.

Lee Iacocca didn't have a clue what was going on in the hour or two or three following the WTC attacks...not a fuckin' clue...and neither do you...

Only a boneheaded Democrat would manufacture conclusions about something they know absolutely nothing about....The rumors of more attacks, bombings, unresponsive aircraft heading for the capitol and the White House, the DECISIONS ABOUT PRESIDENTIAL SAFETY MADE BY THE SECRET SERVICE and those entrusted with his security....and hundreds of other bits of intelligence that you pinheads were then and still are unaware of ....

Amazing how pinheads can speak with such authority and be totally ignorant of what is actually happening ....manufacture answers to problems they haven't yet learned about ...come to conclusions without being privy to even the tiniest bit of intelligence....and actually believe they are right....

And HOW would you have a fucking clue? You can't make conclusions and speak with authority about something you know absolutely nothing about because YOU weren't there. You aren't 'privy to even the tiniest bit of intelligence', you are parroting what Bush's lackeys put out for public consumption.

------------------------------------------

HERE is an article with 'privy intelligence' from Bill Sammon who wrote 'Fighting back : the War on Terrorism from inside the Bush White House'. Sammon has been described as 'joined at the hip' with George W. Bush. His book on the subject could be described as the official Bush administration's explanation of the president's actions on 9/11.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The only source to describe what happened next is Fighting Back by Bill Sammon. Publishers Weekly described Sammon's book as an "inside account of the Bush administration's reaction to 9-11 [and] a breathless, highly complimentary portrait of the president [showing] the great merit and unwavering moral vision of his inner circle." [Publisher's Weekly, 10/15/02]

Sammon's conservative perspective makes his account of Bush's behavior at the end of the photo-op all the more surprising. Bush is described as smiling and chatting with the children "as if he didn't have a care in the world" and "in the most relaxed manner imaginable." White House aide Gordon Johndroe, then came in as he usually does at the end of press conferences, and said, "Thank you, press. If you could step out the door we came in, please."

A reporter then asked, "Mr. President, are you aware of the reports of the plane crash in New York? Is there anything...", But Bush interrupted, and no doubt recalling his order, "DON'T SAY ANYTHING YET," Bush responded, "I'll talk about it later."

But still the president did not leave. "He stepped forward and shook hands with [classroom teacher] Daniels, slipping his left hand behind her in another photo-op pose. He was taking his good old time. ... Bush lingered until the press was gone." [Fighting Back: The War on Terrorism - From Inside the Bush White House, by Bill Sammon, 10/02, p. 90]

“I remember once the Secret Service thought they had another threat and tried to get the president to leave,” [Karen Hughes, a senior counselor to George W. Bush] said. “And he insisted that he wasn’t leaving. I'll never forget, he said: ‘In fact, I’m hungry. I want a hamburger.’ [MSNBC]

President Bush knew the twin towers had been hit by commercial airliners. An unknown number of people were dead or injured, and some were jumping from the towers, but the main concern of the US forces commander-in-chief was getting a hamburger. How did he know it was safe to stick around and ask for a burger? How did he know he was not making targets of the school staff and students by staying with them?

You guys can debate this until you're blue in the face but it happend and it's over. No attack happened in the few minutes following and more importantly USC got their f'ing *sses handed to them tonight by Oregon State. Unbelievable. What a sh*tty night. You all need to join me out drinking.

Oh dear lord, are you one of those 9/11 was an inside job people?

Oh dear lord, are you one of those 9/11 was an inside job people?

I am NOT 'one of those 9/11 was an inside job people', WHERE do you get that from??? Don't accuse me of something I NEVER said...got it you spineless piece of indecision?

i'm not apologizing, i just don't see the need to bash the issue...his words:

My first reaction was anger, you know? And then I looked at the kids, and my role as president became clarified, and that is my job was to protect the American people. And all of a sudden, in the back of the room, people started getting the phone calls, the press. And I knew my reactions were being recorded, and I decided to wait for the appropriate moment to leave the classroom. In other words, I didn't want to create -- I didn't want to disrupt and create a -- you know, a sense of panic. I wanted to project a sense of calm and deliberation because in crisis, people are looking at the leader. And if the leader panics -- I was fearful that others would -- the tsunami, the psychological tsunami would accelerate.

And anyway, at the appropriate moment, I got up and left the classroom and knew I needed to make a statement, which I did in front of a classroom of parents who were expecting me to talk about reading and instead heard America has been attacked. And there was, you know, shock and worry and emotion that all the rest of the country was feeling, too.

I am NOT 'one of those 9/11 was an inside job people', WHERE do you get that from??? Don't accuse me of something I NEVER said...got it you spineless piece of indecision?

Wow, someone is angry. Spineless indecision? On what? The video you posted said it wad.

i'm not apologizing, i just don't see the need to bash the issue...his words:

Are you serious? He had plenty of hindsight to come up with this excuse for not knowing what to do.

I suppose the "appropriate moment" to worry about the country being under unprecedented attack coincided with the school children's lesson ending. And just after he asks the kids if they watched more TV than read books. Then it was appropriate. Not when he heard the news, but 7 minutes later.

Not apologizing?

LOL Yurt. Get the fuck real. This was the most pivotal moment in this country in 60 years, and the CIC sat there like an ass while 2 more planes were flying around trying to attack targets. Do you see a great leader doing that? Is that something to excuse?

i'm not apologizing, i just don't see the need to bash the issue...his words:

Excellent Yurt! Andrew Card explained afterwards that Bush handled the situation exactly right. That after he had told Bush about the second plane he, Card, stepped out of the room and started getting everything ready for an immediate departure with the president...including a prepared statement fro the presdient to give- as the gym was packed with an expectant audience with the president.
