George W. Bush's new book "Decision Points"

Are you serious? He had plenty of hindsight to come up with this excuse for not knowing what to do.

I suppose the "appropriate moment" to worry about the country being under unprecedented attack coincided with the school children's lesson ending. And just after he asks the kids if they watched more TV than read books. Then it was appropriate. Not when he heard the news, but 7 minutes later.

Not apologizing?

LOL Yurt. Get the fuck real. This was the most pivotal moment in this country in 60 years, and the CIC sat there like an ass while 2 more planes were flying around trying to attack targets. Do you see a great leader doing that? Is that something to excuse?

LOL Beefy you get the fuck real. When Card told Bush the second plane had hit the second tower no one knew what the threat was. The protocol for Bush was just as he explained it and it's entirely plausable and realistic for his actions to be based on the thinking and logic he stated!

Wow, someone is angry. Spineless indecision? On what? The video you posted said it wad.

On what? Everything...do you remember me saying you bring to mind Alexander Hamilton?

Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

WHAT??? There is NO protocol that calls for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America when told 'America is under attack' and as you unwittingly hammer home:'no one knew what the threat was' to sit like a dog turd on the lawn!

Nope.

It's easy to get up calmly, calmly tell the kids that the Prez just got a message & has some business to attend to, and calmly leave the classroom.

I don't know how anyone in that position can sit there like a deer in the headlights for 7 full minutes, knowing only that America is under attack.

Now where is that quote where some liberal in office, said that they were stunned into inaction for 20 or was it 30 minutes.

He didn't handle himself well. He froze.

He wasn't a leader. He was a spoiled son of privilege, who never should have been President, and in fact wouldn't have gotten anywhere near any kind of public office had his last name not been "Bush."

Translated that for you:
:yurt:

And if Obama wasn't black he would have never been elected, let alone being nominated.

Yeah there IS protocol as you sit in a classroom full of 7 year olds and see the press getting the news feeds and knowing that cameras are running and that reacting to your anger might be the WRONG thing to do! That allowing your people to get everything ready to roll as THEY are trained to do in order to have a seemless transition into action.

You are a liberal cheerleader who thinks he could have handled it better. That somehow you know what should have happened...the facts are these- you don't, he did.

No....I wouldn't.

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America was told by his Chief of Staff: '"A second plane has hit the tower, America is under attack."

At that moment, Andrew Card withdrew...no instructions were given to Card by the Commander in Chief, and it seems none were even expected by the Chief of Staff.

At that moment the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America didn't know the size, scope or outcome of the attack. He didn't know if he was a target. His whereabouts were no secret. The press knew where he was and so did the terrorists. He endangered every one of those school children in the classroom and the entire school. ALL he knew is America is under attack. He sat there for more than 5 minutes, then after that he didn't leave. He talked to students and teachers, posed for photo ops. And then after that he still didn't want to leave. He said he was hungry and wanted a hamburger!

George W. Bush made many mistakes while in office, but criticizing his reaction on 9/11 is a low blow. Like everyone else that morning, he was undoubtedly in a state of shock. He needed time to process it, to decide the best course of action, without acting rashly. Guaranteed if Gore were President he would have reacted the same way, and you wouldn't be posting this petty, childish critique.

From my perspective, and obviously that of most Americans (considering Bush's approval rating hovered at around 90% at the time), Bush demonstrated excellent leadership qualities during the aftermath of 9/11.

That is an insane bunch of gibberish and a childish pile of crap. How old ARE you? Bush was not on live TV. There is only one video of him in the classroom and it was a recording not a feed.

You talk like the whole thing was a sitcom...AMERICANS WERE DYING while Bush sat their like a dog turd! That is not 'protocol' for any human being, much less the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

If Air Force fighters had to be scrambled and a US commercial airliner racing at 600 mph had to shot down WHO would be the one to make that decision...the fucking press?

Really.....So he would what....go to the library to look it up?
How would he find that out in those seven minutes?
If anyone in his presence knew, do you think they were keeping it a secret....?

Do you realize how fuckin' stupid you look with such a moronic statement...
Bush should have excused himself, run into the next room and just find out who was attacking us.....

Well, god damn, thats what he should have done alright....
in seven minutes he could have found out who it was and kill them all before lunch time.

You're about as fuckin' dumb as they come, boy....

He knew about planes hitting the WTC BEFORE he ever entered that school....and those seven minutes you think are special....
There was nothing he could do about events in New York but wait for more information and ....verified and verifiable information at that, FACTS..
He was Commander In Chief....not Merlin the Magician...or some wizard from the fantasy world you inhabit.
As CinC did you want him to put troops on alert, call out Guard, send the Nuc.Subs to sea, what?
What was he to do as CinC?

"There was no live video coverage of the first plane hitting the tower. There couldn't be. Video of the first plane hitting the tower did not surface until AFTER the second plane had hit World Trade Center 2."

...I had the opportunity to talk with Principal Gwen Rigell of Booker Elementary school for about twenty minutes. ... I asked her if in fact the President had been watching the events of 9-11 unfold on TV before he went into that classroom and she told me "Absolutely not". There was no TV in the corridor or anywhere near that classroom.

President Bush Holds Town Hall Meeting
[CNN, Aired December 4, 2001]

QUESTION: One thing, Mr. President, is that you have no idea how much you've done for this country, and another thing is that how did you feel when you heard about the terrorist attack?

BUSH: Well... (APPLAUSE)

Thank you, Jordan (ph).

Well, Jordan (ph), you're not going to believe what state I was in when I heard about the terrorist attack. I was in Florida. And my chief of staff, Andy Card -- actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, "There's one terrible pilot." And I said, "It must have been a horrible accident."

But I was whisked off there -- I didn't have much time to think about it, and I was sitting in the classroom, and Andy Card, my chief who was sitting over here walked in and said, "A second plane has hit the tower. America's under attack."
