Get The Super Greeedy Wealth Extractors Out Of Health Care. We Need Single Payer NOW!

here is what wealth gives you in the only industrialized country that does not have universal care. https://www.alternet.org/personal-h...-earns-you-15-extra-years-life-span-over-poor You get 15 years and get to watch the poor die.

Wow.

So our wealth inequality is a big reason why the average lifespan of Americans is lower than Europe. If more Americans could afford 'the greatest health care in the world' they would live longer.

Also, very interesting stuff in that article about how the Republican health care plan failed.

Republicans are like the dog that chased the firetruck and then caught it. After so many years of claiming they could fix health care, when they finally got the chance they couldn't do it.

That's why all this American polarization is hurting us so badly.

It is now clear the only way to make health care more effective and affordable is for Republicans and Democrats to unite in representation of We, The People, against the health care industry.

Hey. Are our representatives representing us or not? Or are they working for the big money campaign donors. If we all got out and voted, they would listen to us. That money they get? All they do with that is try to buy votes. If we overwhelm them with our votes, that money becomes worthless to them.

Looks like Americans just need to get off our apathy and get involved.

That campaign money works against that. All the negative advertising turns people off to politics so they don't want to get involved. The money makes people do what they should not do so the wealth extractors can get more money out of them.

It's all about the money and greed.

This is America, a system run by the super rich. They are not done. Their policies are creating a plutocracy. The gap in wealth has been exacerbated by Trumps tax cut for the wealthy. Money =power. You can see where the power is going. Follow the money. The wealthy have designed a system to end SS, Medicare, Medicaid and anything that helps the poor or middle class. McConnell and Ryan stated that clearly a month or so ago. Trump is working to bring that to America. They envision a completely different America, and of course a different world. No country is free from their long range plans. We are arguing about the repubs destroying healthcare, but that is an incident not the thematic problem. It is much bigger than healthcare. And in America half the voters are fervently fighting for their own destruction.

Sessions has a lawsuit to strip pre-existing conditions out of healthcare. Trump claims he did not know about that. Sessions said they had discusions about it. Trump lied about that and then said anything the Repubs come up with will have pre-existing conditions in it. So he lied again. After 8 years, the Repubs have come up with no health plan. 8 years and nothing. Oh, I know, let's trust Donald.

ALL THAT POSTURING when they knew their attempts to eradicate Obamacare would fail...

...all the many, many, many bills to eliminate it...

...and then when they had the power to do so...

...FAILURE.

And the abomination, Donald Trump, claims HE would see that Obamacare would be eliminated AND REPLACED WITH SOMETHING BETTER, CHEAPER, AND MORE ENCOMPASSING.

TOTAL FAILURE!

The Republican Party is The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight.

The reds came close to ending the ACA. They only tried 70 times. Any reason to think they will not try again? If reds win this midterm, healthcare for the masses is gone.

Yup...

...IF!

Could easily happen.

I hoping it does not.

If I were a religious man (I'm not), I'd be praying that it does not happen.

Hello Nordberg,

The reds came close to ending the ACA. They only tried 70 times. Any reason to think they will not try again? If reds win this midterm, healthcare for the masses is gone.

Could happen, but I don't think that is an automatic result. Even as they've had both houses and the executive they've been unable to repeal. What they would do is continue to dismantle it one piece at a time. They've essentially already killed it by taking away the personal coverage mandate. We need to elect caring people who will look out for individuals over excessive profits.

Squeezing the public so much they think it is a good idea to risk having no health insurance is not done in the spirit of 'love thy neighbor.' Unless they are mistaking 'love' for 'fleece.'

Everybody needs health care, whether they want a choice to decide not to pay for a few years or not. Everybody needs to pay in to a system that takes care of everybody. This is definitely a "cheaper by the dozen" scenario. Since everybody needs to pay, that is the same as taxes, so it should simply be a tax-funded institution. Since it is tax-funded, it should not be a for-profit business. It should be work that is done by professionals who serve their nation, just like the military. Let doctors be trained in academies, like the military, let them be paid as they learn, let them qualify by being the best candidates, and let them be required to serve their nation for a minimum number of years.

That system could begin initially by making the first class be OB and Pediatrics. Let them begin to serve the nation by treating everyone born after a certain date. Let them handle complicated births after that date. Low-risk births should normally be performed by Midwives who should also be trained, paid for their training, and required to serve their nation for a minimum number of years. As those citizens age, let the medical academy expand and graduate doctors, midwives, support staff, lab people, imaging, testing, and all other health care professionals as needed who can see to complete needs of the the citizens.

If we have to compromise to a Single Payer system which still utilizes for-profit businesses which profit from practicing medicine, then so be it.

What we cannot do is continue to allow the insurance and pharmaceutical industries to make the laws under which they operate. The way they operate is wealth extraction. The medical term is "wealth-ectomy."

PHARM is only after money. They do not work on new antibiotics because there is more profit in boner pills and weight loss drugs. You do not take antibiotics every day like maintenance drugs. That is one reason we have a problem with drug resistance. PHARM is not altruistic. they are only after money. They spend so much money on lobbying that they cannot be touched. 25 million a year. Obama could not stand up to them when they made the ACA. Who do you think is maikng big money off opioids? You can see why it wont be solved.

The US has a profit based healthcare system. It is just that simple. Medicine is science, not free enterprise.

It should also be noted that the people who want to maintain a personal choice to buy in to the health care system or opt out are often people who can afford their own health care. How absurd is that? By letting others decide to go uninsured, they are forcing rates up for those who remain insured: themselves! THEN they blame Obama for high insurance costs. People wjho do this are only fooling themselves.

Hello mak2,

So true. It's so basic it cannot be ignored. Sadly, the goal IS NOT TO PROVIDE GOOD HEALTH CARE AT GOOD COSTS. The goal is to cause health care to be as PROFITABLE as possible: for THEY, the CORPORATIONS, and THE RICH WHO OWN THEM.

We need a health care system where the goal is to provide the best health care possible!

That begins with Single Payer.

Medicare For All.

That's the next step.
