Gen X was hard hit. I said what we would do when we get to the age of retirement... which is 20 plus years out. First we have to recover from yet another ass kicking thanks to the greed of the baby boomers. It was the boomers that pushed through the repeal of glass steagall, a boomer Pres that signed it, another boomer Pres that did nothing to correct it, a third boomer Pres that has made the too big to fail banks... BIGGER. We have $16 T in debt, largely thanks to the boomers these past 20 years. That is their fuck you... and you applaud them for it.

In fact, "the greatest generation" is the generation that was on the receiving end of the largest downward transfer of wealth in american history. Further, The social contract the baby boomers took on, was to take care of that generation, and in turn, they would be taken care of when it was their time. The boomers kept their end of that bargain. That's not entitlement.

Part of this is the thoughtless competitive instincts of simple minds shaped by meaningless sporting events, like Cawacko and Superfreak. Watch them. They're going to kill all the boomers! boomers suck! Boomers are takers! They are embracing the destrutction of the social contract. What happens next? I will tell you...within two decades Billy and Grind are trying to figure out how to make catfood out of Cawacko and Superfreak.

The social contract in reverse. Do unto others as you would have done to you. If superfreak and cawacko got their way - they fuck all the baby boomers and leave them with not safety net. But what then, in return, happens to Superfreak and Cawacko?

I loved reading the article about my own peers, and it's amazing to me how many of the generalizations fit me. That woman who said that in her 20's there was every possibility (we mostly rejected early marriage, in my group anyway), and in her 30's she realized there were some limitations, and now in her 40's, now what? I know I'm middle aged, but it has no meaning. I didn't feel like a grown up till my 30's and I only felt formidable and fully empowered in my 40's. I haven't the foggiest clue what a mid-life crisis would feel like. I think that is one thing that is out with the Boomers, but who knows maybe it will come back to subsequent generations. Maybe Gen X will be having mid life crisis when we're 60, I don't know. We do everything years after previous generations did it, so why not that.
