Would You Trust Newt Gingrich With Your Children? ‎

GOP presidential candidate and disgraced former House Speaker Newt Gingrich made it clear last week that he felt child labor laws -- meant to stop children from being exploited -- were, in his words, "truly stupid."

Tonight he repeated his belief that children living in poverty as young as 9 should be forced into becoming school janitors -- to teach them responsibility.

"Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and nobody around them who works," Gingrich said today according to The LA Times. He ought to try telling that to the children of the families at the Goose Hollow Family Shelter and other shelters across the nation that house families who are homeless and include working adults.

Learning responsibility from Newt Gingrich, who committed several ethics violations while in office, is a paradox. But this is what is passing for "serious debate" in the GOP's nomination contest.

Gingrich has long supported economic policies that have increased poverty -- with children being the hardest hit.

Kids living in poverty need strong schools, strong families and strong communities that will help lift them up and give them every advantage to succeed.

What kids don't need is a president who doesn't understand the issues, and lacks both the personal responsibility and integrity to govern.

Jesus said: "Let the little children come to me..." Gingrich seems to respond by saying: "And give them a mop to clean up after my mess."

Notice that doublewide Dixie is still pretending his Mandingo man-love got a raw deal...LOL.

Newt said what he said. Deal with it.

LMFAO... Yeah, because you guys are all about "scrutinizing" republican politicians, right? "Scrutinizing" ....LMFAO... that's a good one!

Yeah, like when candidates who run for office as representatives of the "family values" party get caught in adultery?

Doublewide Dixie doesn't think the Soviet Union existed during WWII.

If you don't mind my asking ... what is it that you think Newt said?

Well, I can tell you what he DIDN'T say... he didn't say anything about suspending child labor laws or forcing children to work. That's the LIE left-wingers want you to believe, but not what Gingrich said.

Yeah, he's still not saying what you claim he said... better find some more propaganda flicks!

He isn't? Interesting that video footage of Newt calling child labor laws stupid and proposing that kids work as janitors in their schools are "propaganda" in youjr world.

He didn't say we should abolish child labor laws. His proposal was for us to find a way to instill work ethic in poor children. Now, I completely understand why a socialist would be opposed to someone coming onto your plantation and telling your welfare slaves they could be free to tend their own farms, I get that... but there is no reason to lie about it. Let's just be honest, you want to keep poor people helpless and dependent on the government, and voting Democrat. When someone threatens that, you will resort to whatever dishonest tactics you must, in order to prevent it.

I have no problems whatsoever with what Newt proposed. I have long been an advocate of Work-for-Welfare programs, because I don't believe that any man or woman who is capable of work, should be given something for nothing. I think it fosters a sense of entitlement and dependency, and is unhealthy for our country because it promotes poverty. Once was a time, people were just too proud to accept charity, if they didn't earn it, they didn't want it... those days are long past, we now have successive generations of people who expect to be taken care of and never have to hit a lick of work. That has to change, in order to bring people out of poverty. You're never going to enjoy the blessings of economic prosperity unless you work. In case you haven't noticed, there are no jobs being created in the private sector, capitalist enterprises are not hiring, so the idea of creating jobs in the public sector through suggestions like Newt brings to the table, are viable and will provide jobs, while saving the government money.
