GM to build 2013 Cadillac XTS in China

so companies should not have factories in other countries if the goods come back to america? you do realize, many of the goods are shipped all over the world.

SF is right, you two are hypocrites.

Yurt is calling someone a hypocrite. Now there's something you don't see everyday.

I would rather be correct than right 1,000 to 1 any day of the week. And you are but another idiot, yuck.

Smell that?

The part where you think they aren't the same thing. I understand they make different products. How about you tell us which company is not producing goods overseas due to economic benefits?

First tell me if cars can be made in US, and sold in China competitively, considering China's import tarrif.

Yes, cars can be made here and sold there, but they will not be as successful. That said, you are correct in stating why GM is building them there, it is indeed more cost effective. Which is precisely why companies outsource jobs.

Bullshit. Companies outsource for multitudes of reasons many of which are not necessarily economic. Sometimes it's just to break up interpersonal relationships between their own employees. Pitiful.

now, tell me... would a shirt made in the US cost the same as one made in China?

I'm glad you said that. I'll never forget in 1986 when then Ford CEO Jacque Nassar announced the opening of the new Escort plant in Brazil and said that Ford would save approximately $800 per unit in cost even considering transportation to the primary market, the United States. When a reporter remarked that the American consumer would enjoy that savings Mr. Nassar remarked that Ford was under no obligation to reduce the price of the cars. That said, cost is relative but relative to what? That shirt you speak of may cost me $45 whether made in China or in the USA. But that doesn't have anything to do with the cost to manufacture it, transport it or retail it. The cost to me is what I am willing to pay for it and nothing more. Most people just go buy a shirt. Me, too.

have you ever worked for a business or taken a business class? companies don't outsource for interpersonal relationships....

lmao... they outsource jobs to break up relationships?

You might rely on textbooks for all you think you know. I hope that works out well for you. Just one example for you, however. I know a man that had an up and running cartage operation. He employed about 25 warehousemen, forklift operators, etc. and he used lumpers on an as needed basis but paid by the contract drivers themselves. His daughter was fucking a few of the employees so he outsourced his work to another cartage outfit not under his umbrella of control. So, the moral of the story is that companies do outsource all the time for all kinds of reasons and many of which you would never find in a textbook or understand in any way. You're still a yucking idiot, I see.

helping our trade deficit with China at the same time.

??....no a company making things in China and selling things in China isn't impacting our trade deficit whatsoever......if they were making things in the US and selling them in China it would help the trade deficit....
