Golden Calf

All the Trump statue needed was a plate with a burger on it...

I agree with you on the last line. Trump still controls his voters .. but what does that say about his voters? What does that say about you?

You are willingly, gleefully, being controlled by a man. What does that feel like? I ask because personally, I have too much pride intelligence, and identity for that. There is no politician ever invented that I would give up my own wisdom and identity for, particularly one who I KNOW doesn’t give a damn about you, your kids, or the actual woman in your life. They are the ones you should be loyal to.

Not meant as argument, I ask because I care about you brother.

Marx controls you without question! I've been to more former Socialist and Communist countries than you've had hot dinners.

what kind of crap is this? Politically supporting someone doesn't mean they "control" me.
Trump "controls" voters in terms of his base and any run for 2024 or throwing his support is the use of "control' here.

Dont worry about me good brother. I've been following politics since JFK. I dont do cults, and I dont do
blind allegiance to anyone. my support for Trump is purely because of his policies, not to him personally

Hello Dutch Uncle,

Democrats are only concerned about how things affect them too. Consider firearms. Why does it matter to Democrats how many rifles I have? I'm in rural Texas. It's because they want to control everyone and force them to think, act and do as they do.

Before you say it, the current Republicans are, indeed, worse.

LOL! Well, thanks for making my point for me.

And, of course, it all depends on who we're talking about, too, which is why each side thinks the other is the worst.

There are good people and bad people on both sides, so everybody can find examples of objectionable positions on the opposing side. The big pitfall is when people assume their examples typify the other side.

Naturally, there are no hard fast rules here, and it's always wide open to interpretation. Best to keep an open mind.

Stereotyping is black hole; out of which no objectionable thoughts may escape.

I am glad you're of a different view than mine. My User Title says "Diversity Makes Greatness." I believe that. I'm very glad we have opposing views from the left and the right. That means America gets as many perspectives as possible looking at every challenge. That has to be better than limiting everybody to one way of thinking. That's the big problem with the extremes on both sides. They simply refuse to even recognize the views of others. Their way is the only way for them and they don't even want to listen to anything else. Very closed-minded, and quite impossible to ever imagine a whole country taking up such views. It's like they envision and want things that are simply not possible for the whole country, but they think somehow it might happen, even though it certainly never will. No wonder they are so angry all the time. Must be very frustrating to be obsessed with wanting something which is simply not possible.

I support my own view by noting that I, (a Democrat,) have no desire to control your life nor tell you how many rifles you can own. I've heard that comment about 'wanting to control other people's lives' many times. It's bull. I support freedom; as much of it as can be allowed without impacting the lives of others. Or killing others. That is too much freedom. I think we would both agree that nobody should consider it part of their freedom to go bonkers and shoot other people.

It's not the guns that are the problem. It's what is being done with them. It's only understandable that people wish to reduce the carnage from American domestic terrorists. Logic works very simply for peaceful urban people who have no need for guns. They look at the situation and say if there were no guns we would not have mass shootings. Of course, that's overly simplistic; and we're never going to take away everybody's guns. There has to be a better solution somewhere between no guns at all and no gun restrictions at all.

What is needed is calm respectful rational conversation about what can be done to reduce mass shootings and still preserve as much gun freedom as possible.

Actually that term was used more by you righties than any lefties. But statue or not we already know the far right worships the ground trump plods on, this is not new news to most.

I am not a "righty". I am a libertarian, I am no more a republican than you are a communist. come on now.

That said, the right used it to mock the left after the left started treating him like a cult leader and at least one lefty wrote an article calling him the messiah.

Hello Phantasmal,

The Republican party is no longer concerned with issues.

It's all about culture wars.

The party has no platform.

All they are about is praising Trump and disparaging Democrats.

It's pretty sad.

And blatantly shallow.
It’s a QPAC whine fest! You’re right, no platform just attacks and bowing before the Golden Idol.

I love that these yokels have absolutely nothing better to do with their time off than trek to see Trump lose more.

No one did. Righties used that term, but no one on the left did.

Whataboutism, btw.

I can keep going, want to hear the kids sing?

comparing and contrasting is not "whataboutism" there are many aspects of trump supporters that parallels the way the left looked at obama. pretending you all didn't is funny shit.

"whataboutism"= "I don't like to discuss my hypocrisy" you all called obama the messiah, the right mocked you for it.
