Some people don’t know how separate and unequal America was before the 1960s. It was like monkey see, monkey do (honkey see, honkey do) when it came to racism and the treatment of black folks. This is what happens when hatred and bigotry are practiced “just because.”

So just when did this hatred and fear of the black man begin?

Racism in America is as old as America itself. When white explorers set foot on American soil and saw what they called a “Red Man,” they immediately began enforcing the white privilege they had been taught.

They certainly weren't taught 'white privilege' in the UK, because everyone was the same pinky-grey, though some turned white when they died.

The people in the South-East got conquered by everybody who ever bothered, learned German from one gang and would have picked up French if their new masters hadn't wanted them to fight the French, so they tend to put down everyone else. I can't see how you can call this 'racism' in American terms though. All you had to do was learn German/English and pretend to be one of their masters.

The point is: There's ALWAYS been 'racism'. One Tribe fighting another Tribe. Vikings fighting Brits, Anglos fighting Normans, Romans fighting Scots. Even today there are people called 'Slavs', they got their name from the Romans because that is where they got their Slaves ... and it's not in Africa.

I get a little tired of hearing some Americans talk about 'slavery' as though it just started in America all of a sudden out of the blue.

As I say, it was quite easy to change if it got tedious. Is it in America? It was comparatively easy for a Slave to be freed, and to father a Senator, famous poet or whatever in Roman times, when much of the government was run by freedmen. The point about American slavery is that it could only be justified by the lie that one group was 'inferior' on 'racial' grounds, and the squalid bullying still continues. There have been Scottish and 'Welsh' kings and queens over here, Scottish, Irish and even 'Welsh' (British) Prime Ministers, whereas you had to get your only 'Black' President from an Irish/Kenyan mix rather than a descendant of the people you exploited. And I know it's no fault of yours: it is different, though.

There was even a Jewish PM (although he was actually Episcopalian). There hasn't been a Jewish POTUS yet, despite Stormfront and the like claiming otherwise.

Yes, isn't it interesting how people such as Disraeli, or Marx. who weren't, are always referred to as Jewish, because their parents were.
