GOP leaders and pollsters are in a full panic that the voters heading to the polls in November will disregard the strong economy and turn Republican lawmakers out because of the “chaos” President Donald Trump continues to create with his Twitter account.

According to the New York Times, “tensions are rising between the White House and congressional Republicans” over the upcoming midterms with the White House blaming what is expected to be an election day bloodbath on GOP retirements and bad candidates — and Republicans leaders pointing the finger at Trump.

What infuriates the Republican leadership is their belief that they will be unable to run on a strong economy, news of which keeps getting buried by Trump’s daily outbursts on Twitter.

“This is very much a referendum on the president,” explained Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK). “If we had to fight this campaign on what we accomplished in Congress and on the state of the economy, I think we’d almost certainly keep our majority.”

According to Glen Bolger, a top GOP pollster at work on several high profile races, Trump is his biggest problem.

“People think the economy is doing well, but that’s not what they’re voting on — they’re voting on the chaos of the guy in the White House,” he told the Times, adding that he fully believes that Republicans will likely to lose the House, where up to 60 seats currently held by Republicans are being fiercely contested.

The subtext here is that they really don't give a shit about the country. The only reason they oppose Twittler is fear of losing their own gravy trains.

NY Times .....

*snicker*

Another Alt Left Universe wet dream.

Americans are going to vote for ALL pro-Trump politicians exactly because of the economy and the fake news NY Times knows this as evidence of them putting out this fake news propaganda piece saying the very opposite.

Trump tweeted Muller was costing him 25 approval points. If what he says is true, please explain how the Repubs can possibly win the midterms.

The same way they have been winning for nearly a decade now.

The Democrats.

No one is going to vote for that American hating, hate all white people racist party.

Not in 2010 and not in 2018.

The Republicans will benefit from this.

The racist American hating Left is the best friends the Republicans have.

You neglected to mention that the NYT if "failing", and has been doing so for 20 years or so.

You might want to keep in mind there is not an electoral college in the mid term election.

Trump has his ignorant supporters who will show their loyalty to him by voting Republican even though the “strong economy” has not affected them in a positive way at all. They are still poor and living in beat-up trailers. However, their votes are not enough to keep the House majority red. Hillary won the popular vote despite the fact that many Hispanics and blacks did not vote. They will be voting in Nov., and Democrats will take the House.

In a tough environment for journalism, The New York Times Company continued to post significant subscriber growth, propelling the company to a record profit in 2017.

The company said on Thursday that it added 157,000 net digital-only subscriptions in the fourth quarter of the year, pushing overall subscription revenue to more than $1 billion for the year. Subscription revenue now accounts for 60 percent of the company’s total revenue.

Buoyed by the growth in digital subscriptions, total revenue for the year increased 8 percent, to $1.7 billion, and 10 percent in the fourth quarter, to $484 million.

The Times Company had more than 2.6 million digital-only subscriptions, which include news, cooking and crossword products, at the end of 2017. Digital-only subscription revenue increased 46 percent last year, to $340 million, and 51 percent in the quarter, to $96 million. Subscription revenue for the year increased 15 percent. For the quarter, it rose 19 percent, to $269 million.

And the funny thing is, Trump's undisciplined behavior is probably helping the Times a great deal. If he would just shut up...

Good news. My university offers a digital subscription deal to the NYT for $30/year. We were paying close to $25/month for it. Yes, they lean left but even so, their stories are well-researched, the writing is superb, and they cover international news as well as U.S. Other print media might be suffering, but the NYT is doing something right.

It is always about "presentation" for Republicans, they never gave a crap about how incompetent and stupid Dumbya was, and I don't think they really care how bat shit crazy, incompetent, and dim-witted Trump is. The party that supported and defended Dumbya, Palin, and Trump is not a party that values capability, merit, and competence.

I also think Republicans don't realize that people are still pissed that a guy who lost the vote by millions was installed as president. The people did not choose Trump to pollute our Oval Office.

the economy that Trump is happy to take credit for, is on exactly the same trajectory that Obama left him. the American economy is huge and moves slowly. trumps stupid tariffs are threatening the economy, but even that cannot turn the huge behemoth that is the econonmy. trumps stupid acttions are chipping away at it though.Eventually he will cripple it. I suppose we can call it truimps 7th bankruptcy.
