government paid to protect us.....

is that really how you see the world today? because any of those things you posted could have been done by the private sector

The only thing the private sector cares about is profit. That's not a bad thing most of the time - but when it comes to "maintaining the cleanliness of our air & water?" Sorry - the private sector won't do that, unless there is profit in it. And most of the time, there isn't.

Same with cheap public transportation, natural resources, education, disaster relief & most on that list. We get it; you don't like the police, you don't like firefighters, and you don't like gov't. But you're really not right when you make sweeping statements like the one above.

not totally they must also do token protection of the masses.

But would they have let Jennifer Anniston drown out there?
Jennifer Anniston is a mainstream member of the obamacult.

Read 1984.
There were leaders , party members and proles.
Anniston is a party member.
The guy who died was a prole.

Welcome to liberalism!

No, that's not how I see the world - I'd rather they be done by the government than a private sector that still embraces top down management structure, but do recognize the sector's effectiveness. I was simply addressing the point you made, that government is only effective in the use of violence, which is simply untrue.

And they do, very often. There are a LOT of people who owe their lives or the lives of loved ones to unsung heroes in the fire or police departments.
Heros who did not protect in aurora or newtown?
Heros who did not save the life of the victim in the OP!

Heros who threatened to arrest those who planned to rescue the victim .
It simply dosent figure.
Was the victim black?
Perhaps racism?

you obviously dont get it. maybe someday, you will.

reductio ad absurdum

what you should explain is why, after the dozens and dozens of incidents I have posted about, you still continue to believe that bigger government is better government even knowing that the percentage of incidents compared to the low numbers of gov personnel makes these events a common occurrence and not isolated incidents????

reductio ad absurdum [rɪˈdʌktɪəʊ æd æbˈsɜːdəm]
n
1. (Philosophy / Logic) a method of disproving a proposition by showing that its inevitable consequences would be absurd
2. (Philosophy / Logic) a method of indirectly proving a proposition by assuming its negation to be true and showing that this leads to an absurdity
3. application of a principle or proposed principle to an instance in which it is absurd
[Latin, literally: reduction to the absurd]

Your amusing attempt at intelligence just slapped you in the face. Your premise of one isolated incident of possible first responder failure (I'm not even convinced it was, btw) of being indicative all all first responder actions is, well, absurd.

or they could actually save someone with no losses

Now that is reductio ad absurdum!

so we pay government to make mistakes?

Only God is perfect.

and most americans are stupid, like you

I'm sorry. Most "americans" are smarter than you inasmuch as they have a working knowledge of English grammar.

not according to the founders, so you are wrong.

According to the Founding Fathers, "WE THE PEOPLE" are the first three words of the Preamble to the Constitution.

you obviously dont get it. maybe someday, you will.

I hate to break the bad news, but it is, indeed, you who doesn't "get it".
