These are loans the government made to students, and the students used those loans to pay for college, so everyone got theirs except for the student; this forgiveness and restructuring makes that right.

Tons of Republicans are going to benefit from this too.
It's insane to be opposed to this, it's going to be an economic stimulus because now all those people with high monthly payments will either have the payments capped to 5% of their monthly income or have their debt removed entirely, and can now spend that money that previously went to student loans to consumer spending, which is 70% of our economy. Or buying a house. Or starting a family. Or starting a business.
It's so fucking stupid to be opposed to this in any way at all.

No loans are being "forgiven", the debt is being transferred to the taxpayers.
