Why do libs always use gay as an insult? And I was going to say a blow up male doll.
Kudo's USC, man you are smart.
My razzing sucks, you'll do extreemly well on that. I've read so much about mechanics being baffled by it. It's higher level electronics which is your stike zone. Good on ya, and good luck with the effort. That's doing something in the new age economy.
Yep--a whole case of 100 watt incondecent light bulbs. I am going to need more for the rest of my days tough--so I think I will go shopping again tomarrow. If I can run a toyota prius off the road on the way to the supermarket--all the sweeter for me.

I've been using the screw-in flourescents for years. They do save money, paying for themselves in less than six months, and the ones I have come on instantly. You must have stumbled across a bad batch. When they first came out, some had a turn-on delay. Now, I haven't seen one like that in a while. Nearly every bulb in our house is now a screw-in flourescent, except for odd-shaped ones, fridge and oven bulbs, etc.
And I didn't need government to tell me that they were a good idea. Nor does anyone else.
Lots of people use them now. I find it humorous that the govt is the last (as usual) to realize they are a good idea. Of course, the Fed has no business telling us what light bulbs we must use... but they have no business doing more than half the things they do nowadays.
We need more conservatives in government - not leftists like Hillary, Edwards, or Obama, or halfnhalfs like GWB or McCain - to start winnowing the government away from this insane desire to control every part of our lives.
I have the damn things all over the house. I love 'em. They do come on instant like but take a while to reach full illumination, especially in cold installations. I put one in a stairwell to the basement and need to change back to an incandecent because its too dim when I turn it on and by the time its warmed up I've been out of the space for a while.
They don't work in our neighborhood pool house bathrooms. These have presence switches that turn the lights on when you go in, and off when you leave. The switches do something to the voltage and the compacts just flicker like hell. Try pissing in strobe light.
I have one at the top of my driveway on a solar cell and that works fine. Its dim for the first few minutes but stays on all night so thats not a detriment.
The government screwed up again by getting involved with this thing. Just like most new products the high efficiency bulbs don't replace old bulbs in all situations.
It appears that the Democrats are only for choice when it involves killing innocent babies.
All greek to me. The bottom line is that the government didn't take that into account when it wrote this new law. Most motion switches use an SCR to turn on the light, does not work with inductive loads like motors or flourescents. Some of the motion switches have a relay though and will work fine.

This is similar to their 1.6 gallon flush toilet law a few years back. Now most people fush several times when they take a dump.
....
btw there are no perfect soloutions. The flourescents do not work with dimmers either.
And Hybrid autos do not allow you to spend as much money on gas.
A Hybrid would not make sense with me, because I do mainly highway driving. Any money that I would save in gas, if any, would never pay for the additional cost of the vehicle.
Congratulations. I just bought an adapter that makes my car far less fuel efficient! Aren't I smart!
Right now no, it is the same for me. But I will be getting one thru my business since repairing them is going to be part of my business.
Nice tax advantage
