gun control = enslavement

Wow, thanks Damo. I would have definitely gone to war after that speech.

I had trouble holding myself back from going next door and beating the shit out of my neighbour after reading it.

Mind you the little bastard is playing drums in his garage so I might yet do it.

Yo ijit, this was a speech given on the eve of going to war for OUR FREEDOM. I would not expect you to be able to tell the difference but older wiser people should be able to.

That's Irish - ijit, my mother used to call me that when she was angry with me.

If America hadn't rebelled it is unlikely Britain would have changed in quite the way that they went.

A good "what if" proposal that one. I wonder what the world would be like now if the US only gained its independence after WWII like the rest of the former Empire now Commonwealth.

Hey wait. That would mean America would be in the Commonwealth Games. Stuff that. That would mean Canada and us wouldn't win all the medals as usual.

So, here's to 1776 :clink:

I specialise in contemporary mentality. Since everyone is pissing on Ben Franklin's views about liberty and security I thought I'd get contemporary.

I rather like it. It's quite liberating. I hope it isn't post-modern, post-modernism gives me the absolute shits.

Yeah, it gives me the runs.

Yeah, especially the upper left corner. I learned a few months ago, that the original American Flag, commissioned by the Continental Congress in early 1775 was actually had one also, in place of where the stars are now... But on Flag Day (June 20th), they commissioned "Old Glory," and the stars were dedicated as "representing a brand new constellation..."

Pretty neat. Of course, considering that the Congress was split between separatists and reconciliationists, the latter of which was strongest until mid-1776, it now makes since to me why the flag was originally designed "your way."

:usflag: & :ausflag: VS :canada:

You interested in any free land Diuretic?
(j/k for any concerned Canadians out there...)

Who'd want to invade a country that had Don Cherry? :D

I like Canada. Winters are brutal but what a great country.

Well, I know BC is no different from my beloved Pacific Northwest, so if you liked Seattle (I believe you said you'd been here before?), you'd like BC. Obviously, the Yukon and Northwest Territories are a bit chilly, being up there by Alaska. I really couldn't say for the rest of Canada, but my guess is that the southern provinces all mirror the climates of the states which border them (i.e. Montana and Alberta/Saskatchewan, Manitoba and N. Dakota, Ontario and the Great Lakes states, and New Brunswick/Nova Scotia/PEI and Maine).

I did go to Vancouver but didn't get further. My ex is from New Westminster, she used to tell me all about living in the interior. Very hardy folks there.
