Obama made only a few campaign promises concerning gun control, and he has basically ignored those promises. Which is a good thing.

When he was elected, gun buffs were scared they would lose many of the gains we had in the recent past.

"In Virginia, the General Assembly approved a bill last week that allows people to carry concealed weapons in bars and restaurants that serve alcohol, and the House of Delegates voted to repeal a 17-year-old ban on buying more than one handgun a month."

"Arizona and Wyoming lawmakers are considering nearly a half dozen pro-gun measures, including one that would allow residents to carry concealed weapons without a permit. And lawmakers in Montana and Tennessee passed measures last year — the first of their kind — to exempt their states from federal regulation of firearms and ammunition that are made, sold and used in state. Similar bills have been proposed in at least three other states."

It looks like the 2nd amendment is not under fire like we thought it would be.

yeah, more murders to come

There will be more murders, that is true. But the topic of this thread is not a causal factor in more murders.

BTW, the murder rate in the US has been steadily dropping, despite increased gun ownership and relaxed gun restrictions.

the murder rate would plummet if we had gun counts equal to Britain

i love my new .50 caliber magnum pistol, but it is hard to get ammo for it in california

There is no proof of that. YOu have been smoking dope for how long? I am sure there have been some times that it is tougher to find, but its never been impossible. So your claim that guns would be unavailable is nonsense.

And while the UK has a much lower rate of murders per capita, their rate has been rising steadily since their gun ban. With a few exceptional years, the US's murder rate has been steadily dropping.

If we can't stop tons of pot from coming in, and hundreds of thousand of illegal aliens from coming in, why in the world do you think we could stop guns from coming in? And they would make more money off guns per shipment.

So all a serious gun ban would do is disarm the law abiding citizens.

fear rules gun laws...too many citizens fear what they do not understant or just fear their fellow law abiding citizens

it is the nuts like the rifleman in colorado today rather than the law abiding weapon owners

It's Juvinille to say no guns wouldn't = less murders
would it be tuff to do, yes it would be impossible based on the number of gun nuts and future murderers

I don't know if I thought it would be but I always worry when democrats of a different flavor than I get in office. Fortunately there seems to be enough who think like I do to keep the GC stuff in balance right now. I did find this conclusion comment from the article interesting:

"“The watchword for gun owners is stay ready,” said Wayne LaPierre, chief executive of the National Rifle Association. “We have had some successes, but we know that the first chance Obama gets, he will pounce on us.”

While I think this unfairly characterizes Obama as a gun-grabber of the Feinstein/Schumer sort, I do think it is prudent for gun owners during all administrations, democratic or republican to "stay ready."

right GED boy, get one before you can talk about my two.

Way less guns equals way less murders, a third grader could tell you that.

Would it be easy? NO!!! Niether was going to the moon.

once again, dropout, there are more guns NOW than there were two years ago and the murder rate has dropped......so how fucked is your theory now?

I don't expect a high school grad to be able to think past NRA talking points.
But your other rightwing bretheren should be able to get it.

Zero guns would not result in less than 17,000 murders. Thats laughable Smarter than noone, thanks for the comedy

your idiocy is showing. I don't use NRA talking points because i'm not an NRA member. IMO, NRA stands for 'negotiate rights away'.

Bullshit, you may not pay for it. But you sure parrot it. I could give to flying fucks if the murder rate is going down.

17,000 is exponentially too high. If Europe can do it we can. We're smarter than they are. Save for the pickup truck driving wife beater wearing NASCAR fan.
