Gunman killed neighbors, child with AR-15-style rifle

All of the victims were from Honduras, and the suspect was from Mexico,

So, were they here illegally? My bet is the answer is YES. That means this was a preventable crime if we didn't have open borders and enforced our immigration laws. Aside from that, the shooter wasn't legally able to purchase a firearm, ANY firearm. That means the current gun laws we have didn't work, and more gun laws likely won't either.

My bold quote was from the WaPo article YOU linked. It's buried about halfway down the article. Those were facts. It is a FACT that a foreign national CANNOT purchase a firearm in the US. None of the victims nor the shooter were US citizens. That's a fact too. The only thing in doubt is their immigration status.

What kind of idiotic response was that? Try keeping up. If the shooter and victims were foreign nationals and here illegally, enforcing our immigration laws and strengthening our border(s) to prevent illegal entry would be an effective deterrent or even solution to this problem. Foreign nationals wouldn't be here illegally and therefore could not commit crimes in the US if that were the case.

This shooting appears to be the result of a failed immigration and border enforcement issue rather than one of gun control since the shooter had to obtain his weapon illegally.

Mexican national in possession of an “AR15-ish” rifle, advertising that fact by firing it in the front yard, and nothing is done? Gosh, I guess we need more laws NOT to enforce.
