It is not possible to "get rid of them"... People will continue to make and use them.
It won't... not by any significant amount anyway.
Taking guns away from people who don't even commit crimes in the first place will have absolutely ZERO effect on gun crime statistics. People who DO commit crimes will still have means of acquiring them and will still use them all the same.
Suicide rates will not go down either, since people will simply resort to different methods.
You need to address the people themselves, not the inanimate objects.
