My only complaint about Alaska seafood is the lack of variety.
We cook it with various sauces, including butter.
Silver salmon is my favorite and you don’t see that much of it.
Halibut is very difficult to cook right.
I’ve had to send it back more than once at “good “ restaurants
Thought the area was famous for the shellfish, I’ve had Alaskan crab in San Francisco and it was special, certainly light years ahead of anything you’ll get from warm water

All oysters are. Salt is what gives them a little taste.
The reason gulf oysters are saltier is because salt dissolves better in warm water.
Plus they grow bigger in warmer water .

Florida oysters, as most Florida seafood, not all, but the vast majority, are tasteless. Stop by the majority of seafood restaurants and you’ll see the menu dominated by cold water fish

If they’re in nyc they’re from the east coast which means they came from the Gulf Stream. Same as Gulf oysters.
I’ve had them in South Carolina . Same as what I get in Louisiana.
Never had them in FL.
The most tasteless oysters I ever had were in Washington and were farmed. May as well have a glass of tap water.
My favorite seafood is soft shell crab.
There’s only one place in the universe I’ve ever been where you can get a broiled soft shell crab and that’s at Bart’s at the New Orleans lakefront.
I don’t even bother getting oysters anymore. For some reason it’s a delicacy nowadays most everywhere.
Fuck that. I remember eating them at Acme Oyster Bar in the French Quarter during college years until I could barely walk because they were so cheap.
