It is a big job that can put you in the public eye and make a career for you. But Trump is a human wrecking ball who can destroy lives too. Trump operates on his big gut. The chief will have to understand Trump will just change his mind mid speech . He will also tweet everything he feels. There is no controlling that. He needs an old timer who still has a modicum od national respect and nearly nothing to lose. Draco Malfoy refused because blowing up his careeer in his mid 30s in too great a risk.
 
There is some truth to the OP, Trump has a hyper-ego and babysitting actually would be part of the job. Trump needs to go find some ambitious junior exec from the corporate world because he will not find an effective CoS in the political world, they're just not used to dealing with guys like him.
