Announce a State of the Union for tomorrow at 8 p.m. In it, he would say the following...
Good Evening. In the past 3 years, we have been engaged in a war against radical fundamental extremists, and we believe we have killed about 3/4 of their leadership to date. We've liberated over 50 million people in two nations, and brought democracy to people who have never known democracy in their entire history. Still, the polls are clear, and my Democrat adversaries have been clear, they do not support the current strategy and use of our military in the war on terror, which also includes Iraq.
In light of this, I have today ordered the complete withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq, as well as all U.S. bases abroad. We will immediately begin to bring all our military troops home, and effectively end the war on terror, as well as our global military presence. I will appoint a bipartisan commission of Democrats and moderate Republicans like John McCain, to deal with any consequences of this action, although I am assured by my detractors that this will be minimal, and that it will result in much better relations with the rest of the world.
I come to this decision with a heavy heart, because I made the mistake of thinking that America had the resolve and conviction to defeat the radical elements who attacked us on 9/11, and it is clear at this time, we simply don't have that resolve. I feel it is better to redeploy the forces back to the US, and appoint a bipartisan panel to deal with the situation, until such time, when the American people can fully support our efforts militarily. It is simply pointless to continue in a war that the people don't have the will to fight, and it's better to suffer the consequences than to continue forward, at this point.
To the families who have sacrificed so much, in losing loved ones who fought in this war, I am deeply sorry, but the will of the people, as reflected in the latest Rasmussen poll, has spoken. We must follow the course set forth by the poll data, because this is truly what America desires and wants, and it is my job as your president to give you that. We will no longer have a military presence in any part of the world, nor will we attempt to control the acquisition of nuclear weapons or the spread of radical Islamofascism. This should meet all necessary requirements of the European community, the Arab community, the anti-Western Radicals, and the Liberal American community, with regard to our involvement abroad.
Every action we take, has a consequence, and I anticipate the consequence of this action, for the remainder of my term, will be a drastic increase in gasoline prices, as well as an increase in terror attacks, as we plan to abandon all international intercept programs, so that we won't be in violation of anyone's constitutional rights. All prisoners held at Gitmo and elsewhere, will be immediately released and returned to their home countries, so there will be no more interrogations of detainees. Any consequence of this, will be dealt with by the bipartisan commission, as it is now their responsibility.
We would encourage the Iraqi's to release Saddam from prison, and allow him to return to the presidency of Iraq, since he was cleared of having done anything wrong, and should have never been overthrown by us. This should greatly reduce the death rates in Iraq, according to my detractors. We will not demand that Iraq do this, because effectively immediately, we no longer involve ourselves in foreign affairs, and it's entirely up to the Iraqi's and the UN, how best to proceed.
To Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, my deepest regards, and I hope the best for you in the future, it was great working with you, but it has come time for the US to bow out and leave you on your own. Our people simply don't comprehend the nature of our treaties, alliances and promises made in the past, they lack the backbone to actually support them anyway, so it's for the best that we part ways now, rather than having to do it when you are depending on us to come through, since we obviously won't. We no longer believe in shedding American blood for your freedom, you are completely on your own now.
I hope that these changes in American Foreign Policy will be the beginning of a new day of hope in America. It certainly removes any obstacle to bipartisanship, as this covers almost any area of disagreement my opposition has with my policies, and sets America on a completely new course. This should make everyone happy, and Laura and I will look forward to the high poll numbers and fluff-piece interviews with Diane Sawyer. Thank you, and good night.
