also, in this case the teacher was told he could not have a bible on his desk........as a test he replaced it with a study in Buddhism.......there were no complaints........(part of the transcript of arguments brought before the court).......

There was no government mandate requiring or prohibiting a religious activity. The establishment clause requires government action. The coach (an agent of the government) also did not mandate participation. So, there was no violation of the establishment clause but an exercise of freedom of religion/speech.

no.that's the old "wall of separation" between church and state

prior SCOTUS overstepped and denied religious expression merely if it was on government ground

there is no government establishment, nor is there any favoratism.
The "prohibiting the free exercise thereof" was being violated.
1st is a right to express if it's not state sponsered or favored over others.
