What really offends me is the incorrect use of "middle class."
Most Americans, and people in general, are working class.
Middle class has nothing to do with income.
It has to do with social status, being self-employed in particular types of business, or holding graduate degrees and special licenses.
I doubt that there are many on this forum who've even sniffed middle class status, even if they have greater assets than real middle class people.

People who want to keep production domestic are the same people who want cheap stuff.
A totally different situation is the need to import luxury stuff.
We import enough wine to float battleships, and they can't make French or Italian wine in California no matter how hard they try. Even I buy that.
Some stuff is only available on an imported basis, and people who can afford it are going to buy what they want--including Ferraris and Rolls Royces.
Still, that's small potatoes, moneywise. The real problem is that people won't pay more for domestic stuff and won't elect politicians who try to make them.

Once you realize that the universe sucks and always will, you realize that the only plausible answer is for people of reproduction age to stop procreating.
