By the "Word of God?" Do you mean The Bible? I don't take it at "face value", it's a nice book, and has some really good moral points and values that are good to live by. It's not particularly important to me personally, to live by them, especially not by someone else's interpretation of them. I'm not a Christian, I don't believe Jesus was the living Son of God. I don't believe there was an "Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary." There are a LOT of things in The Bible I don't believe literally. I respect those who do believe in The Bible as part of their religious spirituality, it's just not my personal philosophy.

My opposition to abortion is, the fetus is a human being, and should have the rights of every human being. Perhaps an argument can be made for why it doesn't deserve the right to live, we make that argument for death-row inmates all the time, but we have to first acknowledge that we are indeed, ending a human life. From there, we can have a debate over when it's appropriate. It shouldn't be simply left up to the woman to decide when to end the life of another. We don't even allow that on death penalty cases.
