Her birth was possibly the greatest disappointment of her father's life. He had wanted a son and heir to succeed him as he already had a daughter, Mary, by his first wife, Katherine of Aragon. He had not divorced Katherine, and changed the religion of the country in the process, to have only another daughter. Elizabeth's early life was consequently troubled. Her mother failed to provide the King with a son and was executed on false charges of incest and adultery on 19 May 1536. Anne's marriage to the King was declared null and void, and Elizabeth, like her half-sister, Mary, was declared illegitimate and deprived of her place in the line of succession.

mary was called 'bloody mary' for good reason, while elizabeth's reign was golden for england

henry had a lot to answer for even though he was mostly a decent ruler for england, just hard on his wives who he blamed for his own shortcomings
 
During the Great Depression, it is estimated that 12,830,000 were unemployed and yet, there were nearly fifty million births.
That's approximetly 3.89 children per family (figuring that most women weren't counted as employed or unemployec)..
Anyway; according to the left, they should have been aborted because of the miserable lifes they were subjected to.
Anyone care to try and figure out how many children WOULD NOT have been born, due to their parents never living and/or ever met?

do not forget Beethoven, his father beat him about the head and ears until he went later in life

remember that birth control was illegal and spotty at that period in our history so a lot of children were born that today would never have seen the light of day

Mary got the nickname because she was a woman. She was no worse to her enemies than Henry was to his, but he was a man, and his clubhouse defeated her church in England.
