mayor de blasio was literally tell people to go hug a chinese person and go to parades on like march 11th. blaming this all on trump is pants on head retarded
I write this not to blame De Blasio or Trump. I think to blame anyone now is irresponsible. I propose to get through this first then point the finger of blame looking back on the evidence.
From my Facebook live sermon on Sunday as I encouraged my listeners to follow the government’s instructions to shelter in place and limit social contact, I related to them the some facts from the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918 in which my grandfather lost his first wife and 8 of his 11 children.
I called it a tale of two cities. Philadelphia’s health administrator and mayor refused to make any restrictions on social activity even when cases started popping up in that city. They went ahead and had a parade that was scheduled, refusing to cancel it. 3 days after the parade the city’s 31 hospitals were overwhelmed and by the end of the week 2600 people were dead.
By contrast, Saint Louis’s health director took immediate action, closing movie theaters, restaurants, bars, pool halls and outlawed public gatherings. Yes, even religious gatherings...after all I believe the God we serve as Christians has given us the brain we have to use. Even though the city government was met with great protest from business owners they stuck to their guns and the mortality rate for St. Louis at the end of the pandemic was 1/7 that of Philadelphia.
While the Spanish Flu and COVID-19 are medically different in how they attack the body, transmission is very similar. If you don’t have to be out in public, stay home. More importantly, bite the bullet, be the adult and parent and make your teenage kids stay home.
