Hooray for Obama!!!

How did you get from the first part of your comment to being on the receiving end of benefits? What benefits?

The biggest benefits are obviously S.S. and Medicare. On top of that we have the CBO claiming a large number of people will not work now due to the health care act and the risk of losing premium subsidies.

The first part of my comment was regarding the worker:beneficiary ratio which is going to be far lower due to the retirement of the baby boomers (folks dropping out of the workforce as well).

bush was the worst president ever but I know you can't see it with your economy goggles on.

I use to say that too. Until Obamacare was passed.

Although Bush is a good example of why you shouldn't tell your children, "you can be anything they want to be".

Sure, you just raise taxes. In theory no revenue problem is too great until you can't tax anymore.

Obviously the government attempts to influence our behavior based on the tax code. Due to baby boomers starting to retire, the state of the economy and other issues our workforce participation is at its lowest levels since the late '70's or around then. This will continue to lower that rate. At what point do you see a potential problem with a lack of a workforce participation, if that is a problem at all in your opinion?
It is! We need to get your ass back to work so you can pay for my damned SS!!!! ;)

Leave SS out of it. It's not part of the deficit of spending problem. The only thing you need to do to fix the SS shortfall in the future is to adjust the payroll cap for inflation, which has not been done in a very long time.

Mott,

how about the issue of people choosing to work less in order to qualify for ACA subsidy? Good? Bad?

The conservative says we lose taxes and hemorage more with the subsidy. Correct?
Is it worth it to society? I think so, and I suspect you would too, but is someone really wrong if they disagree?

It just seems weird that one single law supposedly is going to be responsible for all that doom. I don't know how the talking heads get their numbers but it seems pretty clear they haven't factored in every single thing that contributes to the economy.

Unfortunately for you the majority of the nation have been fooled into thinking Obama has done a reasonable job of leading country out what was the TRUE DISASTER, the Bush Presidency and he's done so handicapped with a do nothing GOP dominated congress that is determined to bring the President down and the country with it. So blow some smoke up somebody elses ass.

I think it's to early to tell. These are projections that are being politicized. Many of these people are at the low end of the economic ladder anyways who don't contribute a whole lot to the federal tax dollars in the first place. What the report doesn't also point out is that those who do drop out of the work force cause this option gives them the choice will more than likely be replaced. So what's the net sum gained or lost? We don't know. We can only guess. Same with the subsidies. If the net cost of the subsidies is less than the cost of the impact that the uninsured have on our health care system than it's a net positive gain and thus a good thing. If the reverse happens, that's not good...but again....we don't know how that will work out. Time will tell.
