Targeting Hamas, and not the Gaza in general. From the outside, Israel's actions seem to be as much about revenge as they are about justice, at least to this point.

It's the old "2 wrongs don't make a right." Emotions are extremely high in situations like this, which is 100% understandable. But justice & emotion don't mix. We did the same after 9/11 - our reaction was more lashing out than focused, and many innocents suffered as a result.

When Israeli infants are being beheaded, there are no 2 wrongs. There is one wrong and when Israelis RESPOND to the slaughter and beheadings of their children, they are doing so from high moral ground.

Do you expect the Israelis to do nothing to protect their children, their citizens from a terrorist group?

You're ignoring the NATURE of that response. Of course they have to respond, but your post here justifies ANY response from Israel.

Let's take it to an extreme: what if they just wipe out everyone in the Gaza right now? Is that "justified" for you because they can apparently do no wrong, as long as they're just "responding?"

I think pretty much any response is Justified right now.... they aren't wiping out everyone in Gaza just yet but I would understand if that's what they chose to do.... wouldn't you if they had kidnapped and killed your family and posted it on tic tok?
 
A country is only responding from a "high moral ground" as long as their response is just & moral. If they start indiscriminately killing civilians in the same way their aggressors did - they are no different.
