How DEMOCRATS spread the Chinese disease in America

Border Patrol agents, working with local law enforcement agencies, apprehended almost 4 dozen individuals in separate incidents.

The first incident occurred in the morning of February 26, when agents received a call from Webb County Constable’s Office (WCCO) Precinct 2 involving a vehicle that failed to yield. The occupants subsequently absconded from the vehicle. WCCO deputies apprehended the driver while Laredo South Station agents apprehended 10 individuals. The individuals who are illegally in the United States from the countries of Guatemala, and Mexico, were taken into custody by Border Patrol for further investigation.

The second incident occurred in the afternoon of the same day, when Laredo South agents responded to a call for assistance from Laredo Police Department (LPD) officers regarding a possible stash house in central Laredo. Agents made contact with an occupant of the house. A search of the property revealed 25 individuals who were identified as being illegally present in the United States. The individuals are from the countries of Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

A third incident occurred during the early morning of February 28, when LPD requested assistance from Laredo South Station agents regarding a group of four individuals they encountered who stated that they had been in a stash house. Responding agents searched the area and located an additional five individuals who made the same claim. A welfare check by LPD on the suspected stash house did not reveal any further individuals. The individuals are Mexican nationals who were illegally present in the United States.

None of the individuals that were taken into custody were wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when found. The individuals were provided PPE and were medically screened. With a noted increase in COVID-19 infections, human smugglers continue to place individuals in close quarters without PPE. This not only endangers the people being smuggled, but the safety of our Nation.

Last August, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer joined New York governor Andrew Cuomo in a statement blasting the Justice Department for daring to request data related to nursing-home deaths in their respective states.

The governors — both DEMOCRATS — claimed this was “nothing more than a transparent politicization of the Department of Justice in the middle of the Republican National Convention.”

Whitmer and Cuomo complained that federal officials were targeting their states and several others under DEMOCRAT control for partisan purposes.

That wasn’t the reason.

Rather, it had to do with governors who put in place dangerous policies impacting nursing homes in their responses to COVID-19.

Governors such as Whitmer and Cuomo have acted with tremendous power for the past year, unilaterally making decisions impacting their states in the name of combating a health emergency. And they have a lot to answer for.

DEMOCRATS need to reckon with the record of politicians

Andrew Cuomo became a hero to DEMOCRATS across the country last spring, his stature on par with their messiah Obama, with live-streamed daily press briefings that projected steely resolve and paternal authority in the face of a deadly menace.

Failing New York Times’ media columnist Ben Smith called him “the executive best suited to the coronavirus.”

As the 2020 DEMOCRAT presidential primary dragged on, buzz circulated that Cuomo would be a better candidate than Biden.

Yet Cuomo’s star turn is at odds with his actual record.

The governor’s bluster has obscured his habit of dismissing scientific expertise in service of burnishing his own reputation and asserting his final authority over every lever of power and policy in the state.

His Machiavellian impulses seem too often to take precedence over good government, even in times of crisis.

The most glaring example of Cuomo’s preference for control is unfolding right now.

An investigation by the New York State attorney general found that the governor’s office misled the public on the number of pandemic deaths in nursing homes after it ordered COVID patients into elder-care facilities.

According to Attorney General Letitia James, “New York State Department of Health’s (DOH) published nursing home data reflected and may have been undercounted by as much as 50 percent.”

In an astonishing moment, one of his top aides admitted to state legislators that the administration withheld data to avoid taking a political hit.

DEMOCRATS need to reckon with Cuomo’s record — and the record of other politicians who have used the pandemic, or both to elevate their profile.

Whitmer may now regret her chummy relationship with Cuomo.

Given the recent bombshell that Cuomo and his staff fudged New York’s numbers to make the state’s nursing-home deaths appear rosier than they were, it’s extremely apparent that public officials can’t be trusted to be open with citizens, regardless of how many times they say “science and data” (one of Whitmer’s favorite catchphrases) are guiding their decisions.

Washington was not alone in offering funds to facilities to accept COVID positive patients.

Many other DEMOCRAT controlled states took similar approaches. New York, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania "nursing homes were required or encouraged to admit COVID-positive patients."

The outlet cited a report which "found a direct correlation between patients discharged by hospitals and COVID-19 cases."

Like Washington, the other DEMOCRAT controlled states have also not been transparent with their data.
