how do our taxes pay for healthcare prior to Obamacare?.....
Most people saw it in their premiums more than in taxes.
As far as I know, money paid out is still money paid out, though. Do you prefer paying through premiums as opposed to taxes?
how do our taxes pay for healthcare prior to Obamacare?.....
I pay $211.00 with a $2,000.00 deductable under the plan I have that exists due to the ACA.
Then your insurance company is screwing you over.
My wife, myself and our daughter are all covered under the same typical 80/20 plan.
We pay something like $192.00 a month with a $1,000.00 deductible and $2,000.00 total out of pocket for the year for each of us.
Most people saw it in their premiums more than in taxes.
what are the requirements for such a plan?....where is it offered?
It was interesting to watch Romney yesterday. Well, interesting is perhaps not the right word. But he was stating that Obamacare must be repealed! And replaced. BEcause what were some of the things Romney says we have to do? Well we have to make sure that people can't be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions. And we have to make sure the states can help all of our citizens get affordable health care. And we have to make sure that if you like your current insurance you can keep it.
Of course all of these things are in Obamacare. So Romney is basically running on "I'll give you all that shit for FREE man!"
And of course the entitled morons voting for him will actually believe that. Cause they're entitled to affordable health care and strong regulation of the industry. For nothing. It's those other people who should pay.
Are you paying all of the premium, or is an employer contributing?
Is that 1k deductible per person?
That would be 9k OOP/year for your family.
The premiums are split between my wife and her employer.
And I made a mistake...we've got a $500.00 deductible per person.
My cancer surgery a few years back ran me $2,000.00 total, despite over $30,000.00 in various and sundry bills.
You are mixing things up and clearly do not understand the S. Ct. Ruling. (you are dumb or disengenous or blindly beliving what idiots are telling you) The PENALTY for not having HEALTH INSURANCE is a TAX, the bill itself is not a tax. Read the opinion.
Zappa, I didn't know or forgot, are you still all clear! If so, yippee!
I know but it makes me feel better to have a forum to point out how wrong these people are!You don't actually believe that a hack like Dixie is suddenly going to start discussing this honestly, do you?
He's going to employ the very same spin maneuver we've seen over and over from hundreds of Righties the past 24 hours.
the specific claim was that taxpayers were paying it....
Which doesn't make this particular law "good"... Simply stating something like that doesn't mean that this law itself was the right answer. Everybody agrees that we need some better solution than status quo, what they disagree with is the belief that this is the right answer.
The problem that I most have with this is that we squandered an opportunity to come up with the best solution and simply offered a mandate to some of the worst insurance I have seen. I have never had a deductible plan like that, even when I worked for a frickin' convenience store I had better insurance than what they are forcing everybody to buy.
I just had my knees done, I sat in the office for an hour, the doctor walked in, asked if I had any questions, gave me a pen to mark my knees, walked out, I then sat in the office again for another half hour, the PA walked in, listened to my heart, listened to my lungs.
I went to the reception desk to pay, $800.00 please! I was in shock. I do not deny there are some very devoted people in the medical profession, but it is charges like the one above that are obscene.
My surgery took one hour, the doctor's charge alone was $9,083.00. It is just obscene. I realize they have a high cost for education and malpractice insurance, but come on! The MRI's were $5,000.00. Something has to give!
It has become ridiculous!
I have paid out $6,000 dollars so far, that is my 20% so far and I haven't received all the bills, yet!
Other countries with socialized medicine have great doctors and devoted medical personnel and they don't pay what we in the USA pay.
I don't know where we start or how we go about this, but if we don't fix this, I hate to think what will happen.
People should not be denied healthcare because they can't afford it.
Yer DAMN SKIPPY!
5 years this August!!
My God, that is just monstrous! How can these right wing clowns justify those sort of charges? It would be cheaper for you to come over here!!
Romney is going to have a brutal sell for repeal. By the time the election rolls around, people will either be or know someone who is benefitting from this law.
It will just be a lot of lip service. This won't be repealed; and his internal polling come fall will probably show him that he needs to stop talking about it, unless he wants to make it a strictly "base turnout" election....
