How God will rid us of these liberal A-holes

Fake Christian? Every group of Christians believes itself to be the "true" Christians.

Back when I was a Christian, I studied early Christian writings. I came across the writings of the pagan philosopher Celsus. In the year 177 AD, he wrote:

Whatever flaws Christians of the second century had, the thing which always struck me was how Celsus paid Christianity a unintentional compliment, at least looking at it anachronisticly.

Celsus mocked Christianity as the religion of slaves, women, and the lower working class - a religion totally unworthy of Roman aristocrats and overlords.

From our perspective in the 21st century, I see it as a credit to Christianity that it appealed to the oppressed, the poor, the second class citizens of the second century Roman Empire.

Let's see...

Drought...
Massive wildfires...
Plague... (aka Chinese Disease)

All we need now is a massive earthquake and tsunami...

Sounds rather biblical to me. Maybe somebody's trying to send a message here?

It's not a "credit" to a belief system that it can be easily debunked.

do you know how chickenshit and stupid you have to be to still be a racist bitch in this day and age, retarded piece of shit trump stooge?

Do you know how stupid you have to be to not understand that someone being black doesn't make them qualified. Stating facts isn't racist, boy. Choosing someone based on skin color alone like you do is. Pucker up and keep showing just how low you've gone.

No doubt the word of the Bible, taken literally, would be laughed out of any science lab.

I am acknowledging the historical context of the religion.

The Roman Empire in the second century was a cruel place. A slave economy based on patriarchy, misogyny, economic oppression. The Roman pagan Gods were extensions of the Empire's glory, and were not intended to speak to the needs of the oppressed.

The fact that Christianity appealed to slaves, women, the poor, the lower working class is a credit to the religion, if for no other reason that it gave the oppressed some measure of emotional and spiritual solace.

There were not many religions in the second century which advocated for the oppressed.

Buddhism and Hinduism had greatly influenced the ancient Greeks due to Alexander's contact with India and the exchange of ideas. Celsus opines that Christianity's beliefs are a pale imitation of eastern ideas, and that the Christian belief of resurrection is only a bastardization of reincarnation.

It is possible that there are cultural and religious connections between the Vedic traditions of the subcontinent, and the Christianity of the Roman world which go all the way back to the proto-Indo European Aryan peoples of the Eurasian steppes.

There is probably no doubt that Judeo-Christianity was influenced by the beliefs and practices of Zoroastrianism in Persia.

I give Buddhism credit for appealing to the lower economic classes. The spiritual liberation preached by Buddhism was more widely accessible and proto-democratic compared to the elitism of the Vendic Brahmanistic tradition.
