I know Van Gogh met the impressionists. A lot of other people met the impressionists. Also, the impressionist moment as art historians conceive of it was largely over by 1887.Camille Pissarro met Vincent van Gogh whilst he was living in Paris in 1887 with his brother Theo, make of that what you will.
But I don't think most art historians place Van Gogh's art firmly in the impressionist moment. I don't think he even ever showcased his work in the annual impressionist art shows in Paris. His most famous works tend to be considered post-impressionist.
