How Trump Could Actually Steal the 2024 Election | Robert Reich

It is common practice for House investigations to end in a criminal referral. Republicans use the power like a cudgel. Lois Lerner? Christopher Steele? Rand Paul wants a criminal referral of Fauci. Now, when a serious crime has been committed, Democrats are worried about appearances? Fuck that. Just sayin'

Not so sure it is just appearances they are worried about, but also the risk of making Trump a martyr, a role he excels at playing, especially in elections

Keep in mind everyone knows that any formal investigation with Trump takes years, even further to reach any kind of conclusion, and if the Presidency changes parties in 2024, such investigation will end

The American people will be the jury, Committee's job is to put as much of an ironclad case out infront of the people fully documenting everything they expose

He's already done that IMHO. He's already claiming the committee is a witch hunt. I don't think a criminal referral will up his rhetoric at all. But the real point here is that the rule of law cannot be ignored for political reasons. To do so makes it meaningless. My two cents.

Adam Schiff has consistently said the DOJ should be doing their own work and the House has nothing to do with them

I don't think Biden is right to play naive about Trump and the GOP planning another coup.

Could not agree more. Where was the push for a Voting Rights Act? It should have been the number one priority. Because without it, none of the rest matters.

Agree. Biden talking about Ukraine and masks is a waste of presidential influence. I just posted an editorial today talking about nations obsessing over Ukraine when their own democracies are collapsing.

He has always done it, but this would give him a theme more acceptable than the Big Lie

I agree, however, I think it moves beyond just political reasons, and serves a greater service than the diminishing returns attained out of a criminal referral and investigation
