I just read this morning that there is a whole faction of Republicans who are questioning the wisdom or repetitive challenges to Obamacare, and getting cold feet on repeal.

It won't be repealed, Dix.

Besides, you should be happy - it's all a big victory for you connies.
 
It'd be one thing if the GOP was also going to vote on a "replace" bill while going through the "repeal" exercise. Otherwise, they just look like idiots.

At what point does the right actually lead this country?

Republicans have scheduled a 5 hour debate on something they have no possiblity in the world of even remotely accomplishing .. and you find that cause for celebration.

How about scheduling 5 hours to come up with a better plan. That's called leadership.

What you're celebrating is called the smoke and mirrors of a party without ideas. It is completely braindead.

What a complete and utter waste of the taxpayers time and money. These assholes need to do their jobs instead of wasting time and money posturing.

Yea I think it won't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Republicans alternative to the ACA will be cuts for the wealthy and more deregulation.

Symbolic. Done for a base that might need firing up with a weak candidate like Romney to get them to the polls in November. I also think it will hurt them in the long run...for reasons BAC has pointed out. I'll repeat...and add a little: "How about scheduling 5 hours to come up with a better plan." ... Or something the might actually be productive.
 
Dix, you do understand that this can never pass the senate, and even if it did, Obama would veto it?

Well... polls indicate to me, that a solid majority of Americans do not support Obamacare. With the SCOTUS ruling it has to be a TAX, expect that number to likely climb. Now.... This is an election year, and as such, the politicians are doing everything they can to secure votes for November. Based on the fact that virtually NO democrat ran in 2010 on the greatness of Obamacare, I don't see some big shift in strategy for 2012, and with this vote looming, they will have to do some really fancy dancing to convince majorities in their districts to vote for them, if they oppose it. Not saying they won't do this, democrats are some real fancy dancers... and granted, there are liberal meccas where it will be very popular to support Obamacare, but overall, the general public is opposed to Obamacare, and that is going to be a political problem for Democrats.

Nothing 'mentally retarded' about this at all. Consider this notice served... this issue, is NOT going away! If we fail to repeal now, we will continue to try, again and again and again... until we get it done. This is not going to stop, we are not going to give up, and the issue is not going to go away. Eventually, perhaps your party will realize this, and do what they should have done all along, and LISTEN to the American people? If not... so be it, you will destroy your own political future... that's fine with me as well.

They'll try now (token effort), and make a half-hearted attempt if Romney wins. Then, that will be it.

It won't be too long before this is fairly entrenched w/ the public, like Social Security. Can you imagine a vote to repeal Social Security?

That's what we keep being told, but I really do think they thought it would start happening by now... the public is less supportive of this now than ever before.

I don't see any change happening. You HOPE that Obama can win re-election, and the Congress can hang on to just enough Democrats to stave off the attempts to repeal this thing before 2014, at which time you ASSUME it will be cemented in concrete forever, and I don't think that is the case either. Whether it gets repealed before 2014, is not going to matter, those opposed to it will continue to fight for repeal. We may have to wait until 2016 or 2020... but this WILL be repealed.

And where are you getting that?

Polls since the SC ruling show more public support. The ruling legitimized it for many, imo.
