I can't believe that I am even having this argument, nobody I've ever encountered has tried to deny it is left wing, apart from you.

Well BAC, you do recall that enough of OUR lefties voted FOR the war resolution and considering what OUR lefties were harping about since at least 1996 about Saddam,
WMD, and his threat to the world, why spin it otherwise....it only shows your in denial of history.....you must be familiar with the "infamous" quotes from
Clinton and his administration during his reign.....I remind you, Clintons claims then, was identical to Bush's a year later.

I know our pinheads of today insist on denying historical fact, but ......you're not a pinhead, right ?

You do realise that was a leader article in the Observer which was reprinted in the Guardian? It caused a deep rift between the two newspapers at the time as many considered the Observer to be the Guardian on Sunday in all but name.

The Guardian is a mixed bag .. just like the NYT.

Sometimes they make sense ..

If you think Clinton is a "lefty" then you know nothing about politics.

The Democratic Party is not the left .. doesn't represent the left.

The left did not support the Iraq War .. but I'm betting that you did.

You know, I'll be honest with you bravo on account of your showing an interest in my looks I'm just set afluttering so I'm gonna tell you something. I been thinking on streaking my hair since spring is a coming and I'm going to be wearing my new Easter dress soon and all, but now that you told me you frown on that, I am not going to do it! I hope you will be posting some more of your tips on how to attract your attention for us ladies. I'm gonna copy and paste this one in case christie or rana miss it!

Here is an article by David Rose who helped write that editorial describing the rift that was caused by it.

As a journalist who, in 2003, fervently believed that invading Iraq was justified – both in terms of our security and morally, to remove a truly odious regime – I shuddered when I heard that news and, as I have done so often in the intervening years, I wished I could have my time again.

If only, I mused, I had not written articles – not in this newspaper, but for The Observer and Vanity Fair – that helped make the case for war, presenting ‘evidence’ now known to be bogus of Saddam’s links with Al Qaeda and stocks of WMD, but had been in that brave minority of reporters who tried to stop the warmongers’ juggernaut.
Instead, I helped draft The Observer’s pre-invasion editorial arguing we had no choice – an editorial which caused a deep rift with The Observer’s sister paper The Guardian, and which ultimately contributed to The Observer editor losing his job.
It doesn’t make any difference that I, like many of the writers and politicians who shared my views, was well intentioned and that, like the intelligence chiefs who assured Tony Blair and President Bush that Saddam’s holdings of WMD were a ‘slam dunk’ case, I was sure my work was well-founded.

It was kind of enjoying though, to see you try to defend Chavez's idea of "all for one and all for me".

You've misunderstood my post Darla....the obviously non-blond that tries to look like a real blond is whats kinda bogus...
You know it when you see it, long blond, bushy black eyebrows, dark mustache, etc....
I'm not denying that it could work for some, but, you know.
Now streaking your locks is perfectly cool....you not really trying to be what your not....you being more original, and thats cool....it just that
it takes a special kinda women to really pull it off....its no different for guys.....take Moe Howard, his bowl cut looks ok on him, but it don't think I'm gonna try it.....

I can't agree with that BAC.....politics, like everything else, is relative....it all depends on who you're comparing someone to....

In US politics, Clinton is a lefty....that doesn't mean hes like Chairman Mao or bin Laden......the lines separating left and right in the US are driven by issues....the seperation
is not so much on the outcomes but more on the methods used to arrive at those outcomes....

The Iraq WAR is a different issue....Clinton supported ousting Saddam, removing him from power, accused him of possessing WMD stockpiles, supporting anti-American
terrorism, etc.....he just didn't have the balls to do it with US military force.....though I'll bet he could have gotten something like the War Resolution passed in the 90's....

then along came Pres. Bush.....feeling absolutely the same way as Clinton.....and because of the WTC attack and US tempers running high, he thought he could
get the Congress to give him the go ahead to actually do it. They did and he did....it wouldn't have happened without support from the left.

Given how the Iraq War went, don't you mean 'stupidity'?

Bush & Cheney thought the Iraq War would be a quick, 6-month in & out. Man, were they wrong. Bush's war will always go down as one of America's worst foreign policy fiascos.

Clinton was a smart President, in that respect - and not a lefy, btw.

Your Koolaid inspired view of history is your view....thats ok with me.....I'll deal with the facts of history and the way I explained events is accurate....even though
I didn't go into the details and finer points......Clinton's words and the words of most high profile Democrats are written in stone for history....nothing will
change those words about Saddam's Iraq, WMD and wanting his removal from power....his lack of backbone can be debated and will be for some time to come.

The mistakes or appearance of mistakes in the conduct of the war will also be debated....as they are in all the wars that were ever fought.....
"Monday morning quarterbacking" is common in this country ..... often done by those that can't and have never played the game, or in the case of war, those
with the least knowledge of what real war entails or how to conduct one that kills and cripples real people....people like you make great "Monday morning quarterbacks"
