stupidity. They were shunned by all the other michigan militia groups up there for their wackiness.
It was reported that they "hoped" that what they did would cause a knee-jerk reaction by authorities where they, the authorities would try and disarm citizens. This would cause more violence towards authorities.
That said, this was a "small" nutter group. They are not representative of the actions or motives of militia groups as a whole. They do however provide more fodder for an obama loving media needing a story to (a) distract from the obamacare story. (b) more screed to try and lay at the feet of TEA party supporters. and (c) to make the public fear citizens owning guns
This group was planning this crap long before TEA Party Protests were even thought of, shoot they've been infiltrated by the FBI longer than the TEA Party Protests have been around...
We know this, but the stories will arise linking this "mindset" to the TEA party mindset. Look at the hubabaloo over Palin's cross-hair map. Then there is the group marching on DC that are armed with pistols and unloaded rifles. Some of these people may support the message of the TEA party (small government) but because they may, the TEA party will be linked to "guns" as if that is bad and scary..."I mean look at the Hutatree folks just to see where these people come from"; these will be the stories.

UNTIL we can get some of these groups of wackadoos to perform some demonstrable GOOD for their fellow community members, good that can be shown in counterpoint to planned attacks by nutjobs like this Michigan militia, then all anyone is going to remember is that Militias = Cop Killing religious nuts.

Rubbish. Thousands and thousands of people are members of militias. Of those 9 were arrested. That is not indicative of the whole, and very obviously not. The attempt to make it so would be funny if it wasn't so tragically obvious.

How many have been published? Quite a few, the Michigan Militia immediately denounced the nutters, the TEA Party Organizers the same. You just assume, like the political bigot you are, and trudge on in deliberate ignorance. There is nothing more disconcerting than deliberate ignorance on a site designed to allay exactly that...
Not only did they denounce these nutters, but the leader of the Michigan Militia is working directly with FBI against one of the nutters who tried to contact him after they were arrested.
