Hypocrisy in the news

James Comey says his perjury and obstruction charges should be tossed out because he claims he was confused by Senator Ted Cruz’s questions about his leaks to the media, when Comey had his own legal counsel advising him.

His lawyers were Patrick Fitzgerald, former U.S. attorney in Chicago, and David N. Kelley former U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York.

Ironically, another one of Comey’s legal advisors was the same legal advisor Comey hired to work at the FBI as his middleman to leak his memos about his talks with President Trump to the media, professor Daniel Richman, to get special counsel Robert Mueller appointed.

Richman is central to the very issue Cruz was asking about.

Comey is a lawyer. He’s also the former general counsel of Lockheed Martin.

Comey is complaining about the same charges of lying to federal authorities and obstruction that he and his own FBI routinely charged and ensnared others with to get them jailed, like Martha Stewart.

Was this question really that confusing? Here’s exactly what Sen. Ted Cruz asked James Comey during the Sept. 30, 2020 Senate hearing: “On May 3rd, 2017, have you ever been an anonymous source in news reports about matters relating to the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?"

Comey responded under oath, "Never".

He was then asked, "Have you ever authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports about the Trump investigation or the Clinton investigation?".

He responded, again under oath, "No".
