Across 90 minutes with Oprah Winfrey, Lance Armstrong did more than admit he cheated to win his seven Tour de France titles. He revealed a measure of the man that he is and this much is certain: If you never met this jerk, well, count your blessings.

Defiant, distant, difficult.

Arrogant, unaware, flippant.

Oh, Lance had a plan to try to look open and honest, and that was what was so obvious: It was a plan. It sounded rehearsed. But when he went off script, well, that's when he went off the rails.

He apologized, and that's worth something, worth a lot to those of us who aren't outraged anymore over doping in sports. But in doing so, in tuning into the Oprah Winfrey Network, you could only marvel at that personality on display, the same one that while we celebrated his victories was, behind the scenes, leaving a path of personal destruction in its wake.

pun intended

I caught a couple minutes of the interview and it made me LOL when he said (while making excuse for doping) that his story was just so awesome he had to live up to it.

Man, what a cheater

he is an asshole imo. not only did he lie about doping, but he lied about his cancer recovery without using drugs. that was his MAIN selling point and what made me and countless others believe him.

he can pound sand.

Isnt it what the sports fan wants to see. Someone who will break all records, all the records that can normally be set have been sent. The only way to break a record any more is to become superhuman.

It is amazing to me the reaction to Armstrong. Are people really mad at him or are they mad at themselves?

How are his actions any different than a politician who cheats, lies and destroys lives.

In a sport known for doping and cheating, people believed it because they wanted to believe it. They wanted to put him on a pedestal.

It should be pointed out thats sports are nothing more serious then games ment to entertain.People take them way to seriously.

But it was an awesome story. Name one other athlete who came back from stage 3 cancer to win his sports greatest event not once but multiple times?

Greg LeMond hit the nail right on the head when commenting back in 2001 on Armsrtongs association with Dr. Ferrari. "This is either the greatest come back of all times or the greatest fraud of all times."

Hell that doesn't bother me nearly as much as the way he destroyed people who contradicted his story line. He not only lied, cheated, he destroyed peoples lives.
