I bet not a Democrat will vote in favor of this

Tennessee senator Marsha Blackburn has introduced a bill in the Senate today that is short, to the point, and simple. If passed, it would allow state and local law enforcement to start enforcing immigration law.

Much like local and state law enforcement can enforce federal laws like bank robbery, this would instantly increase by a massive number law enforcement officers who could arrest and hold illegals for immigration violations, at no additional cost to taxpayers.

My bet is that this bill won't even be considered by the Democrat leadership of the Senate.

Today, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced the Clear Law Enforcement for Criminal Alien Removal (CLEAR) Act to ensure that state and local law enforcement officials have the tools necessary to help the federal government deport criminal illegal immigrants from the United States.

That empowers local and state law enforcement to help the federal government enforce immigration laws and is as it should be.

Oh, so only federal officers enforcing immigration laws should be able to arrest illegals in the US? Maybe we should apply that logic to bank robbers. I'm sure that would be robbers would not be emboldened to rob banks knowing that only federal law enforcement can stop and arrest them...

It can be verified upon arrest for another crime, for example. With local and state law enforcement allowed to enforce immigration law, once they determine someone in custody is here illegally they can charge and hold them for that crime too.

It wouldn't mean that local and state law enforcement can go hunting for illegals on that basis alone any more than they can now. All that changes is they could, with this law, charge and hold someone, just like they can for bank robbery, until the feds show up to do their job. It would also mean that local and state law enforcement can effectively control their portions of the border where they have jurisdiction otherwise and arrest illegal crossers and hold them until the feds can pick them up.

As for "papers please," the border patrol already does that within the US:

Guano, that only applies to those that can't figure it out.

That's a nice bill, but it should be part of a larger Immigration Bill package.

You obviously don't live near a border. I've driven through at least a half-dozen of those stations, some multiple times. They stop every vehicle and check you citizenship status. In most cases, the BP agents see you're White and just wave you through. DWB? You're going to get questioned.

You scream fake so much that I'm wondering if you were booted out of the Navy with an OTH or worse. What happened to you, Theywillneverlearn? Were you a Brig Rat and sent home in disgrace?

And how does that differ from what is on the books now? If someone is arrested for a crime and upon arrest it is discovered that the person is here illegally they notify the Federal officials

You are aware of course that Biden has deported more illegals that Trump (https://www.cato.org/blog/new-data-show-migrants-were-more-likely-be-released-trump-biden), and Obama way more than Trump (https://www.houstonchronicle.com/po...t-check-ron-desantis-deportation-18591863.php)

Exactly, in fact, any substantial action addressing immigration has to be completed with a reform of the existing antiquated immigration laws, anything else, are only bandaids, EO’s are not going to do it

And we all know what happened with fhe last effort

Amazing part of exchanging with the cult on immigration is that they really don’t understand immigration law, they still think Abbott is bussing illegals immigrants across the country or that his Barb wire photo op is really effective

EO's are bullshit and can be rescinded with a signature as both Trump and Biden have proved. Congress needs to do their fucking job. I suspect the Republicans will lose the House this year because they've proved too many times that they don't know how to lead and get things done.
